Great short walk form downtown

We walked from downtown for a nice short nature walk near the coast. We missed the museum, but there is a great view form the castle. The walk alone was worth the effort.

While it makes for great pictures in the distance, Dunollie Castle is currently not open and being restorated. Walking to it and taking pictures along the coast is decent enough.

The castle is just a short walk from Oban town centre and it looks really interesting. Unfortunately, it doesnt open until 1st April, so I wasnt able to go inside. Good views though.

The Jacobite House holds the most interest as far as history is concerned as the castle itself is a ruin but does afford fabulous views over Oban Bay. Built as a stronghold originally of course. The catering facilities are a little restricted (a serving hatchery in a hut) with no inside dining space, only outside with some canvas awnings to... More

The castle is up a steep walk but the view from the top is stunning. The guide was very interesting. We walked round the museum, which is on lower ground at our leisure, it is full of interesting information and artefacts. There is a small outside seating area where you can eat food freshly made by an excellent local girl.

Visited recently on a beautiful sunny day. Spectacular view from the castle but path to castle quite steep and no steps. The collection in the museum was very interesting, from beautiful copperware in the kitchen to a multitude of items connected to the house and area. The guide in the house (Seona) was especially informative and friendly. The little cafe... More

We visited on a very sunny autumn Sunday afternoon and a piper played while we were looking around the effect was beautiful. The views from the top are unbelievable. The staff were very friendly and the willow hall was really interesting. A little expensive for the amount there is to see but worth it for the view.

Interesting museum before you get to the castle. Short walk up the hill to the castle and not much left to see at all. Fantastic views over Oban and out to sea. You cannot go into the whats left of the tower except the bottom part which is pitch black. But worth a visit for the views and the museum.
