Beautiful day out on the sea with a very knowledgeable and attentive guide/tutor. Could not have been more attentive and patient with a complete novice.

My husband and I are intermediate sea kayakers. We booked a 5 day trip to learn from Kenny, and we certainly did that. Kenny has a great teaching style that really makes you think and understand. He's really knowledgeable and such a kind, thoughtful and funny guy. He tailored everything perfectly to our level, and safely stretched us a bit more each day. The weather was mainly wet and windy, but we had the best time and improved all aspects of our kayaking, returning home with a list of things to work on. You will not find a better kayak coach ever, and the area around Seil is simply stunning for paddling around.

We had a great day out kayaking around the waters of the Isle of Seil. Kenny, the proprietor and guide for the day, made us feel very welcome, and he prepared the route making use of the currents, wind and tide. He did a thorough safety briefing and, once out on the water, made sure we were comfortable. Although we had some prior kayak experience we had never really done sea kayaking. We took to it really quickly and had a lot of fun on the water. Kenny was always at hand for advice and help, and he set us little challenges, like turning around quickly and smart use of the skeg.
The views are simply stunning and plenty of wildlife to see, too.
All in all a great day out, highly recommended! We'll be back!

I decided to have a go at Kayaking when I observed a lone person in a kayak, whilst sailing through the Summer Isles in Loch Broom in May '22. After a thorough internet search I booked a week with Sea Kayak Scotland, for August '23.

As the date approached Kenny emailed me much useful preparatory information such as what to pack both for day trips, and also for a planned 3 day 'camping expedition' which was to be included in the itinerary.

Having not previously not been in a kayak I dutifully prepared myself for this experience by regularly attending gym sessions to build up stamina, and arm muscle strength over several weeks. I should have also done some more core muscle exercises, to be better prepared for some hours sitting upright in a kayak... for next time!

I met up with Kenny as planned and before any practical experience on the sea, there was a very thorough briefing on health and safety matters, information on tides and currents, weather and kayaking techniques. In fact this briefing was part of the routine on all days except when we were on our expedition.

Kenny's equipment was top class!! The drysuit was a perfect fit, together with the buoyancy aid. Paddles were top quality and we each carried VHF radios which we tested prior to setting off each day. The Kayak was in excellent order.

I had the privilege of having kayaking solo with Kenny but I am sure that a group of kayakers would equally benefit from his wealth of knowledge both specific to kayaking and also detailed knowledge of the area. I think that Kenny's local knowledge is probably unmatched, having navigated these waters over many years.

Kenny has vast kayaking experience, in addition to being an experienced mountain and ice climbing guide both in Europe and elsewhere. He is also an active member of the local mountain rescue team, which gives him much knowledge in dealing with medical emergencies. We discussed these aspects at length and even though I have medical training, I felt I learnt much from his own first hand experience of dealing with such incidents.

On the first day Kenny held a detailed health and safety briefing, dealing with aspects relating to sea passages in a kayak. There was also tuition on tides, wind, weather and kayaking techniques which were all put to good use during the time I was with Kenny.

I was extremely fortunate that during my week with Kenny, we had the right combination of tide and weather providing us with an appropriate 3 day window to include the Gulf of Corryvreckan in our 'expedition'. When Kenny mentioned this would be possible I was quite excited, but slightly apprehensive, because I was aware of the notorious reputation of this stretch of water. Fortunately the wind was light and Kenny timed the passage perfectly so we quite easily eddy-hopped westwards between Scarba and Jura, avoiding the notorious tidal flows and 'whirlpools'!

Kenny was excellent company and I had many interesting conversations with him, on a vast range of topics. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge on the local area, and the natural environment that he greatly respects and preserves. Kenny does not compromise on health and safety matters and during the time with him I felt most reassured even though we were navigating through potentially unforgiving waters.

When I sat in the kayak for the first time, I was not sure I'd be able to see the week through, as at first it seemed so different to what I was used to both in sailing cruisers and dinghies. Kenny guided me through the week and made it possible and very enjoyable.

Thank you Kenny, I'm sure to return to enjoy your beautiful surroundings and enjoyable company!!

A fabulous day sea kayaking with Kenny. He was great company, and so experienced, I never had a moment of anxiety or concern. I also learnt a lot - about the area, its history, & loads about the tides and currents - as well as kayaking skills! It's a long time since I've had the chance to think about technique, so great to get Kenny's input. Kenny provided all the gear & it's such a beautiful area, had never been to the Isle of Seil before but will definitely be back to explore a bit more. Thank you so much for the most wonderful experience.

Kenny is the best! A great experienced outdoor guide who made me feel save along the whole trip and was present when we needed him! Showed us some great spots, knows a lot about the area and has good camping gear. The currents, the seals and the amazing views made this trip extra special.

We did a two day, one night trip. Very good to do for first timers in sea kayaking like us. This will not be our last trip!

A superb and brilliant way to discover beautiful Scotland from the water. Kenny is a great guide and coach and helped us to really enjoy the 2 day kayaking trip in a safe way. He adjusted the route of trip to our abilities and was a great coach to get us through some of the currents. The night camping & camp fire completed the trip. I am planning to go again!

I thoroughly recommend Sea Kayak Scotland. We, a family with age range 20 to 60 with experience ranging from a couple of days to couple of weeks, did a 4 day/ 5 night trip in mixed weather and all had an amazing time. I loved the kayaking, the scenery and wildlife (inc. otters and seals), the camping, swimming, and beach fires. Kenny provided a brilliant adventure and taught us so much in such a positive way, he clearly has extensive knowledge and experience in kayaking, teaching and coaching.

Kenny provided a really great day. We needed to learn some rescue techniques for a trip we're planning later this year and he filled a whole day with multiple examples and theory and then shared loads of great online resources. He was also really flexible to our circumstances - and even helped us get our broken down car back on the road.

Had two nights/three days paddling with Kenny. My friend and I are both novices but we learnt a huge amount whilst also seeing lots as we paddled around Luing and Seil. Two lovely wild camps. Kenny is extremely fruendly, knowledgeable & enthusiastic and hextaughtcus a whole range of skills. Keen to join him again on another outing!
