This is my third year of Kayaking with Kenny. A complete novice at the start of my journey. I now have my own kayak. I have been longing to kayak whilst we have all been in lockdown so contacted Kenny as soon as it looked as though government advice made it possible for us to go out again. I felt I wanted a nice trip to lift my spirits so turned to Kenny knowing I would get that. We had a lovely day kayaking from North Cuan through the sound and out to Belanahua. An amazing island to stop and explore. We returned via Cullipool on Luing and back through Cuan sound to Seil. We explored and discussed socially distanced rescues and as always I was confident from start to finish knowing I was in very good hands. Kenny has been an amazing coach. Teaching me the basics and multiple rescue techniques. Every time I’ve been out with Kenny I’ve had a really good experience whatever the conditions and wherever we have been. His knowledge of the area is in my view second to none. He has taught me to plan my own trips safely staying within my capability. When I go out with Kenny he helps me improve my technique and further my skills. I’m able to do the most fantastic trips with Kenny that I wouldn’t do alone. The Garvellachs and Corryvrevkan whirlpool within my first year was a highlight. At the end of November last year a two day trip from Luing via Corryvreckan again camping on the west coast of Jura and returning in a Beaufort 5 through Corryvreckan the next day. Truly exhilarating. Sea eagles, seals, dolphins and otters always make the trip special. The red deer on Jura kept our kayaks company overnight on the beach in November. I cannot say enough to recommend Kenny. He always makes you fee at ease and thinks many steps ahead ensuring your safety in a calm understated way.
Every trip has been different but special in its own way.

This was our second coaching session and visit to Sea Kayak Scotland, Kenny quickly assessed the progress we had gained since our fist visit, then re-enforced some basic principles, introduced new skills then began carefully and progressively started coaching us, so we were using these skills in increasingly challenging conditions - up to and beyond what we thought was our comfort zone. Confidence building stuff, in a safe, controlled way, and all set in the beautiful surrounding of Argyll with the backdrop of the bridge over the Atlantic. A great day out.

Amazing day sea kayaking with the friendly, interesting and extremely knowledgeable Kenny Lacey. I have a health issue and was concerned how I would cope. Kenny went out of his way to help, to the extent of purchasing a new ultra-lightweight paddle to make my experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Nicknamed 'The Jedi Paddle of Choice' due to its unique look, with Kennys knowledge and fabulous instructing along with the lightweight paddle, I was able to enjoy the most amazing time in beautiful Argyll, paddling under the only Bridge over the Atlantic and enjoying the most amazing scenery and wildlife.

I cannot recommend booking with Kenny highly enough. His safety measures, knowledge, instruction and equipment were first class, the whole day was amazing, and I cannot wait to go back for more.

We booked a 3 day coaching course to enhance our practical skills and planning knowledge. Without a doubt we both feel more confident as sea kayakers and look forward to planning expeditions that we would not have done before. We have taken away what we have learnt and added to our equipment list so we are absolutely prepared for any eventuality! Kenny is easy to learn with and knows his stuff! Would recommend Kenny any day.

We have been going to Kenny's for 7 years, sometimes with groups (usually from our rowing club) and sometimes just my wife and I. Having been with groups a fair bit, on this occasion we went by ourselves and asked Kenny to challenge us a bit. He judged it just perfectly and we enjoyed a brilliant three days. He got us playing in the whirlpools in Cuan Sound, practising traveling in "safe" formation, communicating by sight, doing self rescues and assisted rescues as well as developing our paddling techniques - use of skegs versus edging etc. Our confidence (and I think our skills) grew enormously and sadly our time in this beautiful part of the world passed far too quickly.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kenny to anyone whether complete beginners or those with far greater skills than us! There are now a number of our rowing club colleagues who are as addicted as us and who are coming back at least ever year .

I spent a fantastic 2 days being coached by Kenny in Cuan Sound with the main aim to improve my confidence in moving water (Cuan Sound is famous for this!). I also learnt a lot about safety and improving my awareness of the surroundings as well as loads of great tips in general. It was an incredibly positive experience and I can’t wait to be back to build further on what I learnt. Kenny is undoubtedly one of the very best coaches I have encountered in quite a few years of sea kayaking and I can highly recommend him to everyone, beginners and experienced alike.

Just back from a wonderful 3 day expedition with Kenny in and around the Islands of Seil. Kenny organised a great trip for myself and six friends and was flexible to both the conditions and the needs of the group. He was really supportive and great at coaching us new skills and teaching us about the local area. Would definitely recommend exploring this area with him as he’s super knowledgable about his home ground!

So glad we managed to organise our second outing with Kenny this weekend past!
We kayaked in strong winds up river against the currents making for a good workout. Passing under the bridge to the Isle of Seil, eventually sticking our noses into choppier waters emerging out to the Atlantic. Needless to say the return journey back made for mellower paddling following the tide with the winds behind us.
Ended the day with our first capsize drill! Very exciting!
Kenny’s calming temperament makes for a very comfortable environment. He has a broad experience in many forms of outdoor pursuit making for a generous and knowledgeable input. He provides plenty of positive affirmation to cater for all levels and individuals and has a warmth whereby one feels totally at ease with asking any questions. All that coupled with plenty stories and anecdotes to make for an entertaining day out!
Our group, all being novices, came away with a thirst for more action and a desire to perhaps at some point own our own kayak and kit.
Couldn’t recommend enough. Great place, great guy and solid business and professionalism.

Went out with Kenny after 10 years of not being on the water. He (rightly) puts safety as a priority and provided me with the appropriate kit for the weather conditions (drysuit a must at this time of year). He was great at coaching and running me through the basics of what I had forgotten. I felt completely at ease and he was good at monitoring how I was feeling about the increasing wave size. All in all a great day out and I'd thoroughly recommend him whether you are a beginner or want to polish up your skills.

My wife and I had some previous experience in an open canoe. We spent 5 days with Kenny, learning the basics (and a lot more) of sea kayaking. Seil provides probably one of the best locations in the world to learn sea kayaking, from beginner through to advanced level. We covered launch and landing, strokes, edging, skeg trimming, assisted and self-rescues, towing, weather, swell, tides & tidal streams, tidal races, kayak design, equipment selection etc etc. Kenny has a very progressive method of teaching, with demonstrations to help you visualise what you should do. He showed us how to use the various iPad apps to plan a trip, and had prepared lots of useful resources for teaching and to take away - e.g. planning aids, slideshows and so on. Equipment provided was excellent quality - drysuits, carbon paddles, selection of plastic and composite boats. Overall, we felt that learning with Kenny allowed us to take a shortcut to a place of much greater competence and safety. It would have taken us years by ourselves or even in a club, to reach the same level.
