Great Views

Excellent walk and great views of the three bridges.

Although you can no long access the Viaduct it is possible to walk over the stone bridge and experience the most wonderful views.

There is great parking and the walk from the Viaduct takes you the the site of the Roman Fort where well place information boards indicate sites of interest.

Feat of engineering

On a good clear day it was worth a small detour off the A68 to marvel at the engineering skills from an earlier age

Leadderfoot Viaduct well worth a visit

We had seen this from the main road while driving into Melrose. On the way back we saw signs for the viaduct so we pulled off down the road, which isn't very long and you can just park on the road side as there is a sign that says no vehicles past this point, parking is free of charge with no time restrictions. It is only a very short walk (as I am disabled this is important for me).
The viaduct stands majestically in the landscape, it is beautiful as you stand looking down into the river Tweed will the viaduct on your left hand side and to the right a bridge that is older and today's modern bridge behind it. There is a large information board which tells you the history of all three bridges. There are also signposted walks for other attractions in the area. There is some seating available if you want to just rest awhile.

Great views of the bridge and wasn’t to busy. Nice walks ways about and easy enough to go right down to the river.

Beautiful historic viaduct
Oct 2019
This viaduct is no longer in use, but it is close to Melrose and is easily seen from the road or by a circular walk. The walkway is also a bicycle path. The bridge spans the Tweed River. We saw a fisherman there while we visited. The view is magnificent and the architecture is grand! Recommended to anyone who is looking for historic places.
