This was the third group skills course I've done with Ridelines. Great day with Andy and a very small group. Started with a short bit of skills work on a fire road. Then we made our way around some of the steep trails, stopping to session a few sections and features. The feedback on our riding was very good and encouraging, including video replay. Techniques and line choice options were explained and demostrated, then left for us to try whichever we were comfortable with. Learnt loads on this day and finished a lot more comfortable, smooth, and controlled coming down the steep trails in this forest. The ground being wet was perhaps a bonus. Highly recommended step up from trail centre official blacks.

For those of you who want the bottom line, Ridelines tuition was excellent so just book it. 10 out of 10.
For those who want a little more from the review, make a coffee and read on…
So i wanted some 1on1 MTB coaching on my annual leave this year and decided to head up to Glentress in Scotland due to the sheer variety of trails available that span both sides of my abilities.
I am pretty comfortable in most of the sanctioned red and black trails, and right at the edge of my comfort zone on the easier unsanctioned “Dark-Side” trails like “Thunderstruck”, whilst well out of my comfort zone and firmly into the terrified zone on others like “Plan B” and “Pondura”.
So I chose Ridelines and paid online for a 6hr 1on1 session. Payment was simple, communication was good and within hours I was contacted and asked to explain my requirements, after which i was assigned an instructor for the day, Louise, whom I was to meet at Glentress cafe at 9am. Never one to be late, i arrived on my bike at 08:45 to find Louise already there to greet me with a cheery smile.
First things first, she checked my bike from top to bottom, and quite right too, dont turn up to things like this on a rusty, ill maintained death trap folks, its not acceptable.
Louise then spent quite some time discussing my aspirations for the day (Lets call these my hopes and dreams… lol) and seemed very keen not to waste any time doing stuff I wasn’t really interested in. But she did insist we start off with body positioning and fundamentals to check I had the grounding to achieve said hopes and dreams. Turns out i didn’t quite have that groundwork nailed and what she taught me in that first hour turned out to be the basis of my improvements through the rest of the day!
From there we went on to a few of her favourite training places and we sessioned things I had explained i wanted coaching on, like really high step downs through wet and slippery rooty sections, jump take off techniques and controlling the bike properly in the air plus good old corner railing. Again, body position played a big part in all these skills and i am absolutely confident that I was a better rider before I even ate my lunch a that day.
Louise herself is not only an excellent rider, demonstrated multiple times in her skills examples. (Even doing some on my heavy ebike to prove they can be done and to invalidate my hardware excuse) but perhaps more important was the fact she has a very impressive teaching ability. Her whole persona is perfect for the role, she is friendly, laid back and fun but can switch between banter and serious tuition seamlessly. She kept me on my toes and wasn’t afraid to point out that i kept reverting to a few old habits.
I booked a few days here and have been repetitively drilling what I have learnt and feel so much safer that today I chose to follow the Tweedlove Pirelli Am Amateur stages and managed to complete stage 1 to 4 without incident. (I didn’t try 5)
Bottom line, I can’t wait to come back and learn some more skills and will ask for Louise specifically so that we can pick up where we left off, because she manages to make learning new stuff feel like just having a ride out with a mate that i have known for years. That’s a skill that probably can’t be taught.
Note:
A last minute change of plan saw me add my mate Phil to this booking and he loved it too. But he can write his own review. Lol.

Very effective half day tuition with Louise where my son wanted to improve his jumps. Ridelines organisation, logistics, communications and value all top notch. Thoroughly recommend Louise as an instructor who catered for our dual needs and she has a great manner!

Excellent Jumps, Drops and Hops with Andy - broke down the key skills into easy to understandable chunks and brought my confidence on heaps.

Really enjoyable intermediate course at Glentress in the Tweed valley. We learned to tackle some quite scary stuff with confidence. The coaching was first class from Andy. He really knows how to tailor his style and advice to suit the different characters attending the course.

Lesson taken by a clearly very talented rider with a clear agenda for the day and lots of top coaching tips.
Jess was engaging and obviously loves the sport, even if it’s clear she would rather be shredding enduros than teaching numptie 😂

For the first time today a group of us booked a private Jumps Course lesson with Andy at Ridelines.
We are all about the same ability and I would class us as confident riders that lack the technique to confidently clear a medium table top.
Our course took us through the fundamentals of jumping. This included lifting the front wheel, then the rear, then both, as in a bunny hop! These were taught in detail until we all grasped them. Each technique being a progression from the last.
After lunch we took our new found knowledge to some small tables. We quickly progressed to much larger table as our technique and confidence was high. After practicing on these big ones, with some excellent coaching tips we were all clearing them with ease!
The difference from the start of the day to the end was staggering! We can't believe we didn't sign up sooner!
A massive thank you to Andy at Ridelines for his outstanding coaching! I can't recommend this course enough. If you've ever though about doing one, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed.
Theres even a little video of me clearing the jump on their Instagram page! :)

Booked a 1 to 1 sessions with Ridelines to help with my confidence and technique. Had an excellent session with Allan who made me feel comfortable, even with all the other people around! Allan was extremely knowledgable, patient and gave fabulous instruction. He broke things down making them easy to understand. I have watched loads of You Tube videos but nothing comes close to actually spending time and learning from someone who clearly knows and loves their craft. Top class tuition from a top class instructor! Don't think twice about booking with them, I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Thanks for everything Allan, I will keep on practicing! #chickenwings
