This is a great winter venue to see swans and ducks at close range. Helpful staff. Free tour once you've paid the entrance fee and great little restaurant for lovely soups and pies and good bread. I'll bring my grandchildren there when they return from their time in Canada. Definitely woth a visit.

We visited in November which is a good time for the Barnacle Geese and Whooper Swans. Excellent Cafe, good hides - plenty of good birds of course and an informative commentary by the reserve manager at feeding time - leave yourselves plenty of time it's a big reserve with plenty of hides.

We go here every year on a sunny winters day to watch the barnacle geese - so beautiful to see thousands of them in flight. I love this place!

We spent nearly a whole day at Caerlaverock, and weren't disappointed. The visitor centre has a small café, and the bird hides are modern and comfortable. The nearest are less than 200mtrs from the centre.

Always check the notice board at the visitor centre , which is regularly updated and lists and exciting or unusual species. Since last visit , there is a new viewing centre ( too Posh to be... More

My friend and I are members of WWT and as we were travelling to Scotland took the opportunity ti visit. A large site but not as busy as Slimbridge close to our homes in Bristol. There was not as much variety of wildlife as some other sites but a lot of migrating geese.

A lovely place to see and photography wildlife. The staff were very helpful and friendly, with numerous information boards about the birds you could see with a very good map showing the location of the hides. A very nice cafe on site serving light lunches. Well worth a visit.

We were staying nearby and spent a very enjoyable afternoon here with our three children aged 10, 13 and 15. The entry price was very reasonable. The map provided was clear and easy to follow. There were numerous hides, information boards and the staff and volunteers very knowledgable and enthusiastic. We didn't spot the Osprey but we thoroughly enjoyed the... More
