Awful place nothing much happening, go somewhere else. Cant say anything else about it except that it is in a place where alcoholics like to hang out called the mill green. Avoid that park too, go to the dock p[ark

The location of the museum is perfect as you get the glorious views of Dumfries town centre and the hills in the background. The museum has history from all over the Dumfries and Galloway area that goes back centuries and the spiral staircase is a unique feature as you don't see this in many museums.

If you have the chance to visit i would almost certainly go to the camera obscura as it gives you a great view of the town.

Was taken along by a brother and his wife. Well worth it, good information about local area history and wildlife. And then theres the camera obscura a definite must do.

It is one if the beat museums I've been; lovely exhibits and the staff were friendly and attentive. The kids loved it and the only down is not having more time to read all the facts. Specially interesting are the exhibits around the battle of Burnswark.

Went on a local's recommendation and what a surprise! Much larger inside than it looks from the outside. Beautiful and fascinating displays. Don't miss the camera obscura! What an amazing sight! It needs to be a clear day and not raining in order to view. Be prepared for a winding staircase up. It's well worth the exercise to reach the... More

Go to see the Camera Obscura - it's so fun! This whole museum is jam packed with fascinating stuff. I wished we had more time. Thank you to the staff for making our whistle stop to your museum so worth it.
