As a fan of Robert Burns, it was quite meaningful to visit his grave. The surroundings were serene, and the cemetery included many interesting tombs.

Well maintained and surrounded by the graves of many friends, relatives and associates. A quiet and atmospheric place most of the time and an interesting building architecturally. The original grave site is near by. One gripe is that the reflections off the glass behind the...More

This is where Robert Burns' remains were moved to when it was decided that he was too important to stay buried in a grave like everyone else. I suppose you can't blame the people for wanting to show off!

Went to St Michael's church and Robert Burns Mausoleum. A volunteer will guide you around the church and Mausoleum you can give a donation to the church if you like. Takes about an hour. Within easy walking distance of Dumfries centre about 10 minutes.

Was nice to visit his mausoleum. A great poet and a great way to remember him by. Has recently been modernised so you can't missed its bright white paint in amongst the old tombstones.

A beautiful tribute to a great poet. It was interesting to see that the grave sites of Burns' friends were marked as well.

It was very interesting to visit this attraction. There were a number of steps so may not be so easy for people with mobility problems.

The mausoleum is finishing a major restoration but it looks fine and grand, perhaps a grander place than the poet would have expected during his life. It is the kirk yard of St Michael's Kirk which is full of amazing and grand tomb stones, each...More
