Simply the best, beautiful scenery, great birdwatching. The short, small boat ride was fabulous and the person who drove the boat was incredibly friendly. Every time we went we saw the humongous osprey nest. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Lovely castle in a scenic setting. Think the walk from the carpark was longer than they indicated but isn't too far to the small boat which takes you across to the castle. Our party was all adults but I'm sure children would love having to...More

The lass in the Shop and the 2 x Custodians on the boats helped to make an already unique visit quite special. Well worth a visit.

Ok first things first - this is a Historic Scotland property, not National Trust for Scotland so don't confuse it with the gardens and house nearby also called Threave. You will not get free entry if you are in the national trust because the reciprocal...More

Lovely walk to the castle, ring the bell for the boat custodian and after a short boat ride, life jackets compulsory - you can wander around the castle ruins. There are some scopes set up for wildlife too, there were two Pelegrín falcons in a...More

We decided to follow the GPS directions to Threave Castle, which actually took us to the opposite side. Unfortunately, we ended up in the drive of a local farmer rather than the expected parking lot, so we went back out on the road again, only...More
