Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Slessor gardens is surrounded by 4/ 5 lanes of traffic during busy times its like a traffic island
It features a handful of pocket feature gardens the rest of the area is rough grass with paving between the boxes of grass
Used as a pop up concert venue and site for other features
The on-site cafe building lies empty as no tenant has been found.
Young people can be found congregating in the gardens at times smoking dope in the evening
Very quiet in the evenings once the VA shuts at 5pm in general and disconnected from the town centre
The empty plots which surround Slessor gardens have wooden hoardings which don’t do anything for the area.
Top tip - the council parking is expensive best option is to park in the harbour and walk along it’s only a third of the price and a five minute walk
Not really a park just open space until the plots are eventually sold
Worth noting despite spending 100 million on the VA there are no public toilets once the VA shuts at 5pm, if you are there with a disabled person be ready to jump in the car and drive to Tesco
All in all not great

Music excellent. Overcrowded. Under secured. Drunks everywhere. Bars, toilets and vendors an absolute nightmare. Accident waiting to happen. Gold enclosure, ? Now that’s a laugh. Venue only fit for perhaps 8,000 not the 12,000 they say it can hold.
Ground uneven. What I saw of the bar area was just plain scary. Even security was trapped amongst it unable to move. Tim Booth even commented on how much the crowd drunk. Organisers really need to give themselves a good shake, especially on max crowds. I was ok, and it was an experience but I’ll never be back. I’ve seen James play 39 times from the 80s through to now and this was easily the worst managed -shambles - I’ve ever seen. In fact at any concert/gig, yup !!

Attended the Tom Jones concert bought the gold tickets and 15.00 for VIP toilet tickets. Standing is not great for any concert and in my opinion we could barely see the stage and barely hear...suspect the stage and sound system the responsibility of the promoter but I dread to think what the bronze and silver ticket holders experienced. Lots of drunks and thats what happens when a venue opens 4 hours before a concert plus due to the gardens being in the centre of town great in one sense but allowed a lot of people to be very drunk before coming into the concert. There is no shelter so you get the wind and rain making it fairly miserable and if you go to the toilet or for food and drink impossible to get back to where you were and easy to lose people. The entries and exists were well manned and so very little queuing...the drinks and food were expensive but thats the normal for a captive audience. This was my first time at this venue but also my last as paying premium rates to stand on grass and have drunks all around shouting and carrying on was not enjoyable. I would not recommend this as a concert venue.

We were here in the summer when there were various fundraising events in the gardens. Live music, food and drink and lovely gardens. Probably benefiting from the extra footfall going to the V&A.

It’s nice to have a green open space in the centre of a city.
But when it holds concerts, roads in the area are closed and around 50% of buses have to be rerouted to the inconvenience to passengers, this is a new roads network which only fully opened a year ago and little thought must have went into it.
There are a number of small gardens around the two main grass squares, unfortunately much of the seating doesn’t face into the sun, something which most people want.
A year ago a small building was erected at the west side, a workman said it was to be a cafe, a year on and the building still lies empty.
Then there was the Kumo shed, a wooden hut with bits of tree trunk nailed to it and a Perspex roof, cost £72,000 and stood in the corner of the square for around 2 years before being demolished at a cost of £4,000.
All in all a simple green area badly designed with much money wasted.

Visited here with the photography club. The gardens are well laid out with the different sections having different themes, plants from various parts of the world. I also like the way seating is arranged, makes it all very calm and peaceful.

This multi purpose open space brings an entirely new dimension and opportunities to the City. The amount of people from out of town and indeed other countries that we have encountered at concerts and events etc, is truly wonderful.

Was kinda underwhelming I’m not going to lie to the people of trip advisor. Everything was soooo overpriced, drinks, food, and tickets are way out of a students budget such as mine. We decided we would splash out on the big wheel and unfortunately my girlfriend had a panic attack due to the extreme heights. This made the experience rather uncomfortable and I would not recommend.
On the positive side there was a cute pug on the wheel that powered through the ride unlike my girlfriend.

This is a very relaxing space, but needs a sunny day. Historic information regarding Dundee fore fathers and many nice garden spaces.
