    Sunday afternoon treat . . .
. . . what a lovely place. The bar man was welcoming, professional and patient as the three of us couldn't choose! A beautifully sunny day in a comfortable environment. One of our son's favourites which he wanted us to enjoy, and we did.

    Favourite wine bar
The Wine Press is a must. Ambience, wine and service always first class. Thank you for great visits again. Husband was very pleased to spend his gift vouchers. Nice food too that went perfectly with the great wine. Return is assured.

Great way to spend a wet March afternoon.
We came with a voucher for wine and a sharing plate. Friendly welcome, excellent charcuterie plate and a decent bottle of wine turned out to be an excellent way to spent a wet and cold afternoon In Dundee. I suspect we will add this to our places to visit.

A cosy spot centrally located for wine lovers
A rainy night outside but cosy inside. We went on a Saturday and for some reason they don't take reservations on Friday or Saturday but we got a table ok. The sharing boards are really good and it's nice to have a good selection of wines by the glass. It's not too expensive for what you get and the service is good even though they were very busy.

Great place to drink wine on a sunny day
We were lucky in finding a table outside and sat in the sun on 2 separate afternoons. The wine was delicious and the bar snacks were good too - a wee bit different as lots of platters and good veggie options available. Staff were friendly and chatty - it was a good find in such lovely weather.

I was surprised at how busy it was, a good few small sized tables mostly with 3/4 people sat at them. I was taken by how close the tables are, groups were practically sat on top of each other. Fortunately I managed to get a table without a reservation.

On entry I didn’t notice a definitive host desk, had to approach bar. As I got to the bar I was met by member of staff who was polite but somewhat unenthusiastic. A table was just freeing up, which I was sat at. Like I said I was lucky.

For a wine bar I expected to be given a little spiel as to how they do things, there was not much of an introduction by the staff. Would have been nice to be asked if I’d been here before do you know anything about them. Maybe even if I have any familiarity with wine at all. I was asked if I’d be eating. and given all menus. No recommendations from any of the menus or food and drink pairings. No offer of drinks or nibbles whilst I looked through the menus. It’s not an extensive food menu but I was surprised at how little time I was offered to look through either the drink or food menu before the staff came back to get an order.

I ordered a bottle of red and some water and two dishes. I would recommend that you ask for the water to be served without garnish if you are paying a good price for a wine you don’t want the flavour profile tainted by any citrus in the water. For the food I ordered the Charcuterie share plate and the Chorizo small plate. It took quite a long time for this to arrive (just for scale I was 2/3rds into the bottle of wine before anything arrived I wasn’t exactly throwing it down my throat either) a little more frustrating was that the food arrived separately, nearly 10 minutes between receiving the share plate and the small plate. The share plate was pretty small considering its title and there was not enough bread. No descriptive of the meats or the breads when it was delivered. There was an accompaniment of olive tapenade which was such a ridiculously small amount they should just not have bothered. The Chorizo was supposed to be accompanied by the tapenade too, but it did not so I guess they must have been running out at the point of serving the charcuterie.

On the whole it wasn’t a terrible experience I just think for a place that is priced in the higher end of the market that it could deliver its service with a little more nuance

My boyfriend and I decided to visit for the first time after an impromptu date night. They had an amazing selection of wine by glass/bottle and a few in their signature wine ‘vending machine?’ Super cool would 100% give it a shot if you are visiting Dundee or a local who loves a good glass of wine! Staff are incredibly knowledgeable, kind and welcoming! I wish we got our servers name but he was a tattooed gent working the floor on Friday 26th and I cannot speak higher of his service! Would recommend this place 100% and will definitely be back :)

So the surroundings are fine, great in summer outside.
So the bar is owned and operated by a wine merchant/shop in Dundee, Aitken's .They're a great place to buy wine. Always on point.
The Wine Press sells wine that the shop sells.
This is where it gets frustrating.
I was charged £35 for a very good bottle of rioja that sells for £14.50 in the shop.
I simply won't return to the bar.
I get the whole surroundings and comfort thing. But £20.50 more cannot be justified.
It's becoming more and more of a thing in Dundee..pure greed. £25 and we would have bought another and stayed out. Alas we went home to drink more wine.
