Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The current church, the third on the site, was built in 1802. The first church was built in the 17th century and was replaced in 1750, then there was a terrible accident in 1801 when parts of the church collapsed on the larger than usual congregation. It is mentioned by Robert Burns in his poems, so thought that he visited. There are Covenanters graves in the churchyard, and the beautiful stained glass windows are worth admiring. In normal circumstances you can visit between 12 and 2 pm Mon, Wed, Fri. The wee statue of Johnnie Walker is just outside

This is a very interesting church as it is quite different in design to others in the area but its steeped in history such as its the oldest church in kilmarnock and there was a terrible accident here when the steeple collapsed and killed many people trying to escape.
It has beautiful stained glass windows and a stunning organ.
We have been to many xmas concerts over the years and the sound is amazing!

I went to the new Laigh Kirk when I was 15. My husband & I were married there & our son was christened in the church as well. Recently we have been and the minister David Cameron is very good & a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The church history goes way back, I believe it's one of the oldest church in kilmarnock if not the oldest. There is a graveyard & the headstones are very old. Well worth a wee visit.

If you are in Kilmarnock you have got to visit this church. Filled with historical information. You will not be disappointed. Open regular with extremely knowledgeable members hosting. Great to pop in for a moment of quiet time too.

The area around the Laigh Kirk has been renovated a number of times in recent years and it's semi-pedestrian status adds to an air of tranquility in a busy town centre. The graveyard is well looked after and quite interesting from a local history point of view.
The kirk has a lot of history attached with stories of collapsing ceilings and mass panic in days gone by and near riots linked to unpopular appointments of ministers by the feudal superior.
The inside is a typical Scottish church layout and everything is kept spic and span.
The building is often open for view and seems to have an active social as well as religious life.

Interesting architecture. Very unlike other churches in the area.
Take time out to visit.
Plenty of buses and a train service.
