Next time I go to Edinburgh I will bring enough space in my suitcase to buy and take something back that is bigger than a key ring. Excellent. - Lori C3 contributionsWay better than souvenir shops!! Great selection - local artists!Spend your money here! Support local artists instead of the awful souvenir stores. Interesting and fun pieces! Great folks running the place. They also suggested going to their other store which is more of a market in an old church. Both are much better than the typical souvenir stores! Go you won’t be sorry.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2023

Forget all the shops you see selling mass produced products for your gifts; go to this place instead and get something special and truly Scottish, knowing that you are supporting local artists. We bought some lovely gifts from here and treated ourselves to a couple of things too. So many shops in Scotland all sell the same things. This was the best shopping of our trip. Lots of local hand-made unique items. We love to support local makers

What a gem this place is, I could easily spend a couple of hours in here and not quite see everything. There are some really quirky artists designs and really unique things.

Wonderful shopping site. I love to find one of a kind ( not mass produced) items, and the design exchange was a treasure trove of goods. I shopped online to see what type of products were listed, and when I visited in October I bought those items and others. I particularly like the Hebridean pendants and earrings, but also prints and textile items.
This is a shop worth visiting on another holiday, as I’m sure there would be different items on display.

On a recent trip to Edinburgh, we were keen to find somewhere selling locally sourced Edinburgh memorabilia and souvenirs so that we could give something back to the local community. Our tour guide suggested The Scottish Design Exchange and this led to over an hour of enjoyable browsing through a large number of products from local artists. The items we bought were reasonably priced, good quality and now evoke fond memories of our trip whenever we use them, thanks so much!
