This was added on to our Royal Mile Ghost tour extravaganza night. It was dead on a Tuesday night, but there was football on elsewhere and it made for a funny and intimate night with lots of interaction with the comedians. Shout out the the...More

First time at a Club whose sole purpose is to make people laugh. I enjoyed the make-shift set up, it made the gig feel more intimate. Drinks were reasonably priced. Rest rooms were adequate (a queue for the Mens when its busy!). Compere was great...More

Go to Monkey Barrel if you're in Edinburgh. It's so good. Just stop reading this and go see a show at Monkey Barrel. I first went on a Sunday Night, when there were somewhat more established comedians polishing their acts for Fringe, which was hilarious...More

As a student, I got in for free on Sunday Night (keep in mind, my young uns). This was great, and so was the in-house beer with mango flavoring called 221beer. Solid Comedy act, though expect a lot of performer-audience interaction (roasts). It’s an intimate...More

Price for a Saturday night was well worth it, a real bargain. Very intimate venue with a great atmosphere. Staggered performances giving times for breaks so you can go to the bar. The bar is shut whilst performers are on so people aren’t moving around...More

I booked Monkey Barrel for my boyfriend's birthday as we were through in Edinburgh and didn't fancy the act at The Stand. I hadn't heard of Monkey Barrel before but the reviews online were good and for £5 I thought why not. We arrived early...More

Great night. VIP package worked well as not at front. Platter was good. Downside - couple in front eating each other alive needed to get a room. Shame comedians didn’t target them.

We found that the funniest person was the host, enjoyed all his best. 2 out of the 4 acts were clearly too drunk. One didn't even seem prepared. Overall, whilst there were some decent funny bits, we found the acts to be too crass and...More

I took my mother for her birthday present on the Friday night, and it was a really fun evening. We sat at the back to avoid being targeted and to avoid being the victims of the jokes so we were able to relax and take...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
