First time bouldering and all the family had a great time. Our induction was given by Erika who was friendly and knowledgable. Erika explained everything well and ensured we all (me, partner and kids ages 12 &6) understood. Although apprehensive beforehand, youngest loved the kids area, gave it a go and was very proud of herself by the end. The whole family enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back soon (12 yr old asking to go tomorrow!) Very nice facilities and cafe. Parking available. All staff very friendly and approachable. Whole place had a lovely friendly vibe. Can’t wait to return.

I usually boulder at Eden Rock Carlisle and my son was keen to have a trip up here as a treat. I was intrigued to compare the two walls since Eden Rock Carlisle is an excellent venue. Could Edinburgh live up to those expectations?
To start with the staff are just as friendly as the staff in Carlisle and since we knew how things worked (roughly) we were given a brief introduction by Laura, who was one of the excellent members of staff. For people who aren't familiar with Eden rocks walls or climbing full inductiond are available or the staff are always on hand to help.
The coffees are good as is the food and the shop is stocked with good quality items that boulderers need, from chalk to clothing. There is also a warm up area and a mini gym.
The main differences between the two venues is that Eden Rock Edinburgh is bigger. Despite that both wall hold to a very high standard in the most important factor at a bouldering wall, that is the quality of the climbing.
In this respect Eden Rock Edinburgh's boulder problems are excellent. Just like Eden Rock Carlie they are well set, and, whatever your experience you will enjoy the problems at the level you want to climb at. As I wanted to do as many climbs as I could I stuck to whites and blues and left the hardest two circuits alone. After 4 hours I couldn't do anymore but had had a great time and two of the problems actually made me smile as I was doing them. I'm sure the easier circuits and the harder ones would be just has good.
Come along as you'll have a great time if you are a beginner and get a great training session in if you are more experienced. Whatever level.you are at yoully have fun in a nice environment with friendly people!

Took my daughter on another “daily fix” of bouldering to Eden Rock, Edinburgh.
It is huge with stacks of climbing space. The whole place is very spacious and laid out well.
Particularly good for beginners like me as there are plenty of easy routes to get you climbing and not feel intimidated. Really good feature, I think.
Staff very friendly and cafe good as well. We are definitely coming back again and plan to organise future climbing weekends.

I visited Eden Rock with my small baby and had a wonderful time. The wall itself was brilliant especially for a complete beginner (like me!) there was also a lovely play area for babies in the cafe which meant I could actually enjoy the coffee and cake!
All in all a brilliant family day out just wish I lived nearer

I visited Eden Rock on a rent trip to Edinburgh. I am fairly new to bouldering but keen to keep practising and learning. Some climbing walls I have been to I found overwhelming, and intimidating, Eden Rock is most definitely not one of these places! The wonderful cafe (which serves the best coffe in the area) was instantly inviting with a great viewing window showcasing the vast expanse of bouldering walls that await you.
The staff were very kind and supportive, even the fellow climbers were all very friendly and more than happy to give tips and hints on challenging problems.
At no point did I feel like the ‘the worst one there’. The range of problems for different abilities is great and there are so many to try out.
I saw the kids area which looked seriously fun for the little ones. It was large enough to have the kids separate from the main areas which was nice.
I wish I lived nearer to visit Eden Rock more often, I really like the coaching classes on offer, especially the ladies night.
After a wonderful afternoon spent climbing I would highly recommend cake and a coffee in the cafe! And they have a great shop selling really cool climbing gear and clothing.
I will be returning soon !!

Finally, Edinburgh has an international standard bouldering wall to go with its world class lead wall at EICA Ratho. While the roped climbing at Ratho is absolutely outstanding the bouldering has always been limited and although Alien Block in the city centre is a great facility with outstanding atmosphere the building just isn't large enough to really compete with centres like the Manchester Depot. Eden Rock has the scale to take indoor bouldering in Edinburgh to a new level.
The first thing to talk about is the sheer number of problems: 8 circuits ranging from beginner to athlete. 40 problems per circuit (except for the easiest circuit which has 20). A massive competition wall - with its own problems outside of the circuits. A kids climbing area. A small gym area. Top out boulders. Massive training area with Beastmaker board. Small cafe and shop. And they haven't even finished building out the whole facility yet. The route setting is excellent. they've recruited some of the best setters from EICA and spent a lot of money on interesting holds - and did I mention just how many problems there are.
Something close to my heart in a boulder wall is the air quality and temperature. There seems to be much less chalk in the air at Eden than in other bouldering centres that I go to regularly. The building has a relatively high roof for a bouldering wall and the air management seems to work well. So far on all my visits, including one where the centre was packed for a competition, it has remained cool enough to climb in comfort.
I could keep going but the bottom line is fairly simple: if you are a climber and live in or are visiting Edinburgh then you want to try it. If you aren't a climber then book a course and they'll teach you.

It was our first rock climb and Emma made our hour truly amazing. She showed us all the safety features in a fun way and it set the tone for the hour . We were only encouraged and never pushed to do anything we did not want to do. Extremely professional set up . Highly recommend this for family and kids we will be back

Did an induction here a while back as a beginner then visited a couple of other climbing gyms to compare before writing this review. The place is huge, never feels too busy even with loads of people in, all the staff are super friendly enthusiastic and helpful, there is always something fun going on and new problems are put up regularly, all well marked and easy to understand the grade you are looking at as well as where to progress to. The gym is spacious enough to warm up in and well equipped.
The holds are kept clean, the mats are firm but comfy to fall on not like older gyms where your foot sinks in and it feels like you might roll your ankle. Also the shop is well equipped with good prices and knowledgeable helpful people behind the desk.
This is my favourite place to climb indoors and I go whenever I can, I wish I lived closer.

Eden Rock Edinburgh is easily the best bouldering wall I've been to; and I've been to allot! I'm an experienced boulderer so love the training facilities and upper end routes but the most impressive thing about the place is the range and quality of routes at all levels.
I brought my young nieces and nephew (7 - 14 years old) who have never climbed before and there were easily 40+ routes they could have done - if only I coul've dragged them out of the kids room!
The centre has a really friendly, chilled out atmosphere which plenty space for families, newcomers and seasoned climbers to explore.
The best bit is loads of really friendly staff who just want everyone to climb and have fun :)
Friendly staff, good cafe, excellent routes and crazy training facilities .. What more could you want!

As a complete novice, I was quite nervous about going along by myself.
My induction was taken by Sam and he was absolutely fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Every member of staff really go out their way to make you feel welcome and are always on hand to give you pointers.
The food and drinks available in the cafe are lovely and very reasonably priced.
I would recommend the venue to anyone wanting to give bouldering a try ... I'm booked already!
