We did the Loch Ness and Highlands tour with Timberbush in October 2020. We enjoyed the tour a lot.

The tour is a very long day (pick up at 8am, and returned to Edinburgh at 8:30pm) so be mindful of that. It’s a long way!

Scenery was beautiful and there’s some photo stops along the way. Our guide Gary did not stop talking for the entire 12 and a half hours - he worked extremely hard throughout the day, talking about Scottish history and the scenery.

Would recommend. Highly enjoyable day.

This is an unusual 5 star review, we travelled from Inverness last Friday, our first stop after feeding the hairy coows was Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness, following a good stay at the castle we were informed our tour bus was involved in an accident which blocked the road for 2 hour. Timberbush tours informed us that our trip was cancelled and they would get taxis for us to return to Inverness and refund us cost of the trip.
With the road being blocked & most of us still wanting a boat cruise on Loch Ness Timberbush arranged for one of their competitors Jacobite Boat Tours to pick us up at the castle and get us as close back to Inverness as possible. The boat tour lasted one our and was a great experience.
The accident was no fault of Timberbush, the due care and diligence the showed us was outstanding, it was unfortunate we could not continue our trip, however we had a fantastic day and met some lovely people. I would not hesitate to book with Timberbush again. Than you.

It takes longer to fall in love with a human being than it is falling inlove with Scotland. The country has its quirks and rather brutal history. However, all these fierce men and women were fighting for their freedom, their honour. We visited historical sites and we were guided by the most passionate and astute professionals Andrew J. He combines his passion and charisma to impart knowledge to different age groups and backgrounds.

He is also quite professional, sticks to time and is always understanding of our needs as passengers. I fell asleep most of the time on the journey to the different pitstops, not because I was bored, but because we all felt safe, comfortable.. Andrew J's history stories are delivered in a gentle way - you don't even realise that those many people died until you actually think about it!

All in all... im pretty impressed by how everything was conducted. Will definitely recommend 👌 👍 😀

Please DO NOT BOOK with Timber Bush.

I booked a day tour from Glasgow with Scottish Tours two months ago in advance paying the full balance. Scottish tours use timber bush. My tour was on Saturday but I received an email the day before on Friday around 5:30 pm to inform me my tour has been cancelled due to operational issue. I was informed that it was unsafe to drive the vehicle and they are extremely sorry. When asked about Sunday, they told me they have got no availability until next week.

I was only in Scotland only for two days and this tour was really important for me as I organised this for my family of 11 people who were elderly with dementia and children. This was going to be one of the special trip for my grandparents and family who do not travel and this was going to be possibly the only time they visit Scotland as they struggle to be travelling long distance.

I did not even get a 24 hour notice to be able to organise another trip for them. It was August which is busiest time of the year and finding anything for group of 11 was going to be extremely difficult.

What shocked me is that whilst I was looking for other tour options due to the Timber Bush cancelling on us last minute. When I searched, I could see the option and availability of day tour for 11 people from Edinburgh with Timber bush tour. How can you advertise tour online when you are cancelling on people who have booked the tour with you 2 months ahead especially for the group of 11 people. The person I spoke to clearly told me they do not have availability until next week when I asked about Sunday availability.

The agent I spoke to Get Your Guide told me they have availability with Timber Bush from Edinburgh and when the agent contacted Timber Bush they said they can not change their pickup point to Glasgow from Edinburgh.

If the tour company had any sympathy they would try their best to arrange something for us but was still advertising their tour when they clearly told me they are fully booked until next week.

Absolutely One of my worst experience!!!

I will never book with them as they ruined my trip and made it extremely stressful.

Jhonogroats tour from inverness was cancelled due to a so called health and safety issue associated with a folding disability scooter, according to the driver on the day despite us being assured several times by head office prior to the departure date that the scooter did meet thier dimensional and weight and safety. requirements. Driver attitude was disgraceful to a diabled person and it is was obvious that he just did not want us to travel. He had been pre warned the we would have scooter. Total disgrace by this company with regard to people with disability. The drive had issues with boarding the bus, storing the scooter and unloading and loading the scooter into the boot. At no point were we shown the boot or the access to the bus, he just presumed the person with mobility issues would not be able to board the bus. Also he ignored our comments on how the scooter could be stored and handled easily, having ing experience in this regard. A refund was carried out, but the attitude to mobility and disability is appauling. The CEO, has appologised but still in my opinion did not really grasp the issues and what health and safety required them to do with regard to risk assessment of the trips they operate inrespect of disability and mobility issues that passengers may have. No warnings about possible issues are posted on the trip information.

The tour company cancelled on us 3 days before departure because not enough people had booked.
Their T&Cs state if they need to cancel for this reason they give advance notice, but if we cancelled with them within a week they would offer no refund.

They called me the day after our wedding which was also the day before we were to depart to Scotland for our honeymoon , which left me scrambling to make alternative arrangements for the 3 day gap we now had no accommodation for.
We had to pay inflated prices due to the short notice of booking an alternative hotel , and also lost money on another hotel we had booked based on their drop off point.

They claim they do this to prevent impact on the environment but I think if they aren’t making money they don’t give a toss about you. If they’d given us even a weeks notice we would of at least got a refund on the hotel at drop off point. I have requested they compensate this.

Hi Milly, Thank you for your review. Please accept our apologies for the cancellation of your tour - this is unfortunate and I understand that this will have been frustrating for you with having to book new accommodation. We have a minimum number policy of 6 at the moment (hopefully this will change again in the near future) so that we are able to run the tours without losing money. Again, I hope this didn't impact your trip too much and thank you for your review. Best Wishes Jodie

✅ Timberbush consistently delivers exceptional experiences, complete with a phenomenal private booking agent, Charline, and some of the best driver-guides around - Brian being one of them.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 When visiting Scotland it is impossible not to be astounded by the scenery and landscapes. With the right driver guide, you’ll top that off with laughter, new knowledge and many happy memories.

🚙 As a driver-guide Brian brought professionalism, personality, passion, humor to the tour. He was engaging, considerate and communicative throughout. His attention to detail both as a safe driver and as a knowledgeable and edutaining guide (complete with epic music) made this tour standout from the rest. Brian was never short of stories, conversation or witty charm. He did his best to ensure the itinerary was followed, and that the must-sees on the schedule were met. He also added some scenic photo opps and a couple of coo stop surprises which are always welcome.

🧳 If you’re considering a private tour, I highly recommend the investment. From itinerary design, to transparency and communication, the booking team are professional, courteous and attentive. They will do their best to craft an experience and schedule that considers the right pacing and will provide all essential details.

📌Tip: Access, availability and opening hours can change without warning - especially during the winter. Many local spots do not have websites, so a phone call will be warranted before arrival. It is a good idea to ensure the sites on your list will be open and hours or availability has not changed. And, always plan for a backup! The Timberbush/Balmoral concierge team can help you.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿This was my fifth tour with Timberbush (and my second private tour) and I cannot wait to book the next one!

💙🙌🏽 Thank you, “Bonnie Prince Brian” 🤣🤣 and the Timberbush/Balmoral Private Tour team for making this tour the most spectacular adventure.

We will be sure to pass your kind feedback to both Brian and Charline. We are certain that they will be very pleased to hear you had a lovely tour. I went on the O'Groats, Dunrobin Castle & The Far North from Inverness tour. Our guide Ray, who my friend and I had the previous day for the Isle of Skye was AMAZING! He made very part of the journey enjoyable. His knowledge was brilliant. He called ahead at places we were going to stop at so they knew to expect us. He showed us many hidden gems and places that were not on the itinerary. This is my first time ever in Scotland and it won’t be my last. I will be sure to recommend you to any family and friends I know who will be coming here. Thank you Ray for making our holiday to Inverness so memorable.

Great guides make great tours!

Just wanted to report back on a tour we took today to St Andrews and the fishing villages of Fife.
The damp and drizzly weather could not put a damper on the day because we had a real character driving us. Eric was knowledgable, friendly, helpful and gauged the receptiveness of our group perfectly. Most of all he was extremely articulate and we heard every word he said. He kept up an informative banter the whole day, interspersed with appropriate Scottish music and songs which we very much enjoyed.
We’ve talked about his tour ever since we got off the minibus!

We took a 3 day overnight tour. The places we visited with Neil as our guide were great. The downgrading of this review is related to their customer service. I began planning our trip 9 months in advance and then a pregancy occurred which changed our number requiring email communication. In January I ordered Tattoo tickets and asked if there were handicapped accommodations and was told "no". In June I contacted the Tattoo and was told there were so we had tobscramble to get things set up. The night of the Tattoo the driver was not given proper instructions which hindered the efforts. When I planned the overnight trip I assumed they would make accommodation plans only to find out in the summer that accomodations were not made. The accommodation department was very helpful at that point.
The biggest issue I had was being told that I sent too many emails. I sent emails for organizational purposes, clarification purposes and payment purposes. Many of my emails would go unanswered and then I would have to email seeking a response. Finally, I called and spoke to another Neil to share my frustration and after that point things went well. I feel emails should be answered within 48 hours even to just acknowledge them. I did not need phone calls telling me to quit emailing. I could do tit for tat on the reasons for both sides but the whole thing was stressful until Neil became involved and then I felt like a valued customer.
Except for the Tatoo handicap assistance all the issues occurred before our trip so we were able to enjoy our experience.
