Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a first time traveller to Scotland, I was immediately overwhelmed by all the beautiful landmarks and tourist attractions and where to begin from the minute we arrived. On Day 2 of our travels we started a 5 day Hogmanay Tour (Scotland’s traditional New Years celebration). Our tour guide Rich welcomed us warmly into the hostel and gave detailed instructions on what was planned over the 5 days. All our tickets and information that we needed for the tour were in packs ready to go (which became our bibles) and left us with no extra stresses! For 3 young girls in a crowded place, we felt extremely safe and very much like a local thanks to Rich! Rich went the extra mile to accomodate for all travellers and the odd joke (or 10) made our 3 hour bus trip to the Highlands, a breeze! His Scottish pride and lifetime of knowledge was openly shared with all and made Hogmanay, a wholesome experience! I would definitely recommend this tour to those who want to experience the Scottish culture, but also not get lost in the ‘organised chaos’ that is Hogmanay! It is a bucket list must for travellers of all ages. Thanks to Rich for being the best tour guide and for being not just another voice over a microphone, but a friend!

Thankyou Yvonne for a great week. This tour was so much fun! We got a real insight into the rich history that Scotland has. Despite the weather being ordinary, Yvonne managed to provide us with amazing scenes of Scotland’s highlands and constantly kept us busy exploring new places. Would love to do another haggis tour.

The tour was amazing. Yes, it’s a long drive in the bus, but the bus is super comfy, modern, and Caitlin makes sure you have a lovely time all around by playing some really nice music, telling stories and teaching you a lot about Scotland all the time. The Highlands are just beautiful and the Jacobite Train experience was lovely too (especially for us Harry Potter fans, haha). You can tell she puts all her energy from first thing in the morning until the very end of the tour, and even if the crowd or the “clan” is a bit shy or sleepy early morning. I’d say they are really lucky to have her as a driver guide for these tours :)

I came on this trip with my husband and our goal was to see some beautiful places in Scotland and this trip didn’t disappoint. The stops were amazing- amazing views, little hikes for those who wanted to take them (we recommend you do) and nice breaks from driving. We really liked our tour guides. Our main tour guide was Tom - really caring that we would enjoy the time and not lack anything we needed. Another three were new to the company: Lorna, Owen and Louise - funny, positive and very helpful as well. It was a great way to explore some really beautiful places. We felt that Loch Ness was highly overrated so a lunch stop there on this trip was totally enough for us. There were two different options for accommodations: hotel or a hostel depending on your budget. We are so happy we choose this company and this 3 day tour to the highlands of Scotland.

It's a long drive until you get to the Isle of Skye, but our tour guide never let us have boredom. He told us fascinating facts and myths about different places, sang Scottish folk songs and really got us into the culture. He knew where to take the loveliest pictures and considered what we wanted. Although it rained a lot on the second day, he made the most of it and showed us some last pieces of the Isle of Skye on the next day which we missed because of the rain. I recommend for people to not only go in the summer. We were there in November and although it was very cold, we hade a great time because of our small group number and less people at the attraction sides. Would do it again!

Hi Laura, Thanks so much for this lovely feedback. Sounds like you had a great time, and yes, you totally hit the nail on the head: Scotland is incredibly beautiful during all seasons! There's no escape from our beloved "liquid sun", not even during summer ;) Hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, Io

The 5 day Highland fling tour was a great way to experience the gorgeous Scottish Highlands for the first (and hopefully not last) time! We saw a lot, learned a lot and visited many beautiful places that would have been hard to find on my own. I would definitely recommend Haggis Adventures as a solo traveler! The tour was also very affordable with a limited budget. Our guide Thomas was amazing at telling the interesting tales of the Highlands, both mythical and historical. He also made sure to tour us around the towns if we had a break or if we were done traveling for the day, to show us what options we had to get food or a drink for different budgets. Since we had a small group we were able to tweak our planning a bit if we asked, which was very much appreciated.

All in all an amazing experience! Scotland is stunning during winter so don't feel like you have to wait until summer to visit!

As a first time visitor to Edinburgh I decided to join the Hogmanay 5 day tour with a couple of friends. I highly recommend the tour to anyone visiting Edinburgh especially those who are interested in a day trip to the picturesque highlands. The tour provided a insightful look into the Scottish life and the festival of Hogmanay. It was a trip not to be forgotten.

The Haggis team, especially our guide Richo are amazing and I couldn’t think of a better bunch to bring in the New Year with.

Went on the 5-day Christmas tour with the lovely Yvonne as our guide. The tour was amazing! Yvonne was very friendly and informative. The accommodation was great, and so was the itinerary. The Christmas Ceilidh was definitely the highlight of the tour, and spending Christmas day at the UK's most northern beach was pretty cool. It was also fun getting to hang out with Rich and Charlie, who were guiding another group. Will definitely book a Haggis adventure again!!!

My daughter and I really enjoyed the trip. We didn't have a lot of time but wanted to see the Scottish Highlands and learn about its history. Haggis Adventures fulfilled this goal. Our guide/driver (Owen) was exceedingly knowledgable about Scottish history and very entertaining. Despite a thick Scottish accent, he was completely understandable (even to my hearing impaired daughter) as he narrated through the 3-day trip. He and Haggis Adventures were also very helpful in assisting us in changing our lodging reservation from a hostel to an inn. The one suggestion I would make is that Haggis should make the choice of lodging more apparent when booking the tour (I don't recall seeing an option for selecting the hotel--I only became aware of it because many of the other passengers in our tour were staying at the hotel). Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Bottom line up front- if you're looking for puffins and want a world-class tour guide to show them to you up close, go with Haggis Adventures.
Alastair, our tour guide, was a consummate professional who exhibited a wealth of knowledge regarding biology, history, and geology. He expertly guided our tour through Scotland, across numerous ferries, and onto the islands where we got within arms reach of puffins on the cliffs of Lunga.
One of the members of our group sustained an injury on Staffa; Alastair handled the situation calmly and professionally, and arranged for a Coast Guard helicopter to evacuate the victim. I cannot stress enough how his professional and calm demeanor saved the day for that particular person.
Back to puffins, then. This is the place to go to see them... these adorable creatures waddle around and make little happy growling noises, then waddle back into their little puffin holes in the ground. After spending the day with them, go have fish and chips and have Alastair put on some Billy Connoly or sea chanties and drive around the highlands. You won't be disappointed.
