What a fabulous trip and Alan, our guide was terrific! We truly saw the Highlands and the Isle of Skye and our only wish was that we could have stayed longer! We enjoyed every moment; whether it was a hike, lunch, quick stop for breath taking views or a nice chat in the van between stops.

Could not have asked for a better trip. Highly recommend!

My husband is a golf lover but unfortunately was traveling with 3 non-golfers. We decided to schedule a private tour to St. Andrews so we could spend as much time there as as possible. Fortunately we found Scottish Guided tours so we coulds create our own "bespoke" tour. We had a wonderful day with Alan. Alan gave us a tour of St. Andrews and some areas along the way but indulged us by arranging for luch at St. Andrews and my husband was able to have his pint in a pub overlooking the old course and did not feel rushed. I would highly recommend this compoany to anyone traveling to Scotland. They were very amenable to the itinerary we wanted!

We had two excellent tours! One day, we went to St. Andrews. We were picked up promptly at the hotel and had a great drive out to St. Andrews. Our guide, Andrew, was a great Scotsmen! He made sure we had a good lunch overlooking the course. The second day, we had a tour to Stirling and into the highlands. Again, on-time pickup and a great trip to the castle and into the countryside. Would highly recommend and will use again if I find myself back in Scotland!

First, if you are contemplating booking a tour with “Scottish Guided Tours”, we highly recommend you contact them now!! Spectacular!!

We were not sure how to tackle our planned travels to the Isle of Skye and so we just googled “3 day tour / Isle of Skye” and SGT (Scottish Guided Tours) was the first listed. Thank goodness for us.

We were a group of 2 couples, good friends on a 3 day tour. We were all new to this type of experience. Niall was waiting in our Hotel lobby as we exit the elevator and we 4 are immediately aware that we are in for a real treat! He is in full Scottish traditional attire and was warmly welcoming and we must say looked fabulous!

We were so comfortable in our tour van and as we made our way to the main highways we just happened to ask how we could get to the “Kelpies” when we returned to Edinburgh and… before we knew it we were there!! That was the awesome beginning to our 3 days.

Niall’s knowledge and respect of and for Scottish heritage, history, languages, traditions, customs and lifestyle was abundant. We could listen to Niall talk all day and hope to again in the future.

He did everything within his grasp to answer our questions, fulfill our requests and make sure we knew that this 3 day tour was for us and that he wanted to fulfill as many of our curiosities as possible.

We truly feel our 3 full days traveling to The Isle of Skye, on the Isle of Skye and our return to Edinburgh were all well organized, formed to our wants as clients, caring about our needs, had a “no fuss” attitude when making last minute changes due to weather or circumstances out of our control.

We did not confirm a dinner reservation for our first night. He quickly fixed our mistake and found us a restaurant that would take us 4 in at last minute. As we had already had a lovely lunch earlier, the meal we enjoyed that evening was wonderful and just an example of all the meals we would partake in for the 3 days. We ordered Sticky Toffee Pudding whenever possible and highly recommend that!!

Our tour unfolded before us and Niall made it seem effortless.

Again, we could not recommend SGT a higher recommendation.
BOOK WITH SCOTTISH GUIDED TOURS NOW!!!

To sum up our fabulous experience, as we said our good byes to Niall and turned to enter our hotel, Pam turned to me and said “we aren’t going to see Niall in the morning, are we?” And I answered “no” as we put our arms around each other and passed thru the door. Like the end of a movie!!!!

Quite frankly Niall, we miss you,
Kelly & Pam, Bruce & Dy

tours for small groups. We booked two tours with them: a one-day Hadrian’s Wall Tour with Alan and a four-day Stirling, Isle of Skye and Highland tour with Murray. Both guides were amazing and made our trip unforgettable.
During the one-day tour, Alan took us to Rosslyn Chapel, Melrose Abbey and Hadrian’s Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that marks the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. He was very knowledgeable and told us fascinating stories about the history and culture of the area. He also stopped at Rosslyn Chapel, Rosedale, a charming village where we toured the ruins of Rosedale Abbey, the England/Scotland border, and had a lovely lunch where we took pictures of the beautiful scenery. At our main interest, Hadrian's Wall, Alan gave us ample time to look at the ruins of Housested Roman Fort and Museum. We were able to walk on the actual wall dating back to 122 AD! What an amazing day trip.
Murray was our guide for the four-day Sterling, Isle of Skye and Highland tour that covered some of the most stunning and iconic places in Scotland. He was very friendly and entertaining, and shared his extensive knowledge of Scotland’s history, culture, mythology, and languages. He also pointed out the locations and stopped at some sights where famous movies and TV shows were filmed in the Highlands, such as Harry Potter, and Outlander. He always knew where photo ops were and was willing to stop for them even when the parking situation could be difficult. He customized our itinerary to suit our preferences and kept us on schedule. We appreciated his attention to details whether it is to keep the van immaculately clean each day, understanding of each of our interests, or stopping often for our comfort. He also selected delicious eateries for our lunch and arranged our accommodation and dinner at local hotels and restaurants. In three weeks in Ireland and Scotland for us, this was the best experience of all.
We highly recommend Scottish Guided Tours to anyone who wants to experience the best of Scotland. Alan and Murray were excellent guides who went above and beyond to make our trip enjoyable and comfortable. Thank you for a fantastic adventure!

It is rare nowadays to say that something is perfection, but my fellow trip companions and I would agree that our tour with Scottish Guided Tours led by Niall and Andrew was just that. During our ten-day visit to Scotland, we journeyed on a three-day Outlander tour with Niall as our guide and a one-day tour of St. Andrew's led by Andrew.
When we first started researching our trip, Scottish Guided Tours stood out for their array of tours. Their communication and assistance with planning our trip was excellent. They even provided suggestions for hotel accommodations and restaurant reservations. They worked with us to tailor the Outlander tour to our specific interests beyond what was prescheduled. While the tour is called "Outlander" you get an experience that is greater than just the show's backdrop. While traveling with Niall over the course of three days, it was clear to see how much he enjoys what he does and what vast knowledge of Scottish history he has. Every destination we went to he would sprinkle in fun and educational facts about the history of Scotland.
During our sight-seeing excursions, Niall would make sure we were all set, before letting us explore on our own but would always check in to make sure we were doing okay. He is excellent with time management, making sure we spent just the right amount of time at each location while also being aware of how much time it would take to get to the next destination. Even though each day was jam packed, he still managed to navigate around Scotland with ease allowing us a few impromptu photo ops of the Wallace Monument and the Kelpies. The best detour by far was a stop to a beach on Loch Ness where a couple of us ventured a walk in the waves while a rainbow appeared. Touring the countryside with him was not just traveling with a paid guide, for us it was like being with family.
A notable mention is their wonderful transportation. The van they use for the tours, was equipped with charging ports,  was always in prestine condition; and was the perfect accommodation for our group of four to spread out and feel comfortable.
We can't conclude our review without mentioning Andrew. He made our one day with him enjoyable from spontaneous stops of an overlook of the Scottish countryside/ bay near Edinburgh to Balfarg Henge (Glenrothes) standing stones before making our way to Falkland to explore the village and get a photo of the fountain outside "Claire's" hotel window where "Jamie's ghost" was spotted. Then we traveled to St. Andrew's golf course where some of our party had their photo taken on the famous Swilcan Bridge. We collected sea shells and sea glass on the West Sands Beach of the North Sea before rounding out our day with an impromptu photo op of Stirling Castle.
The experience we had with Scottish Guided Tours and Niall and Andrew by far was the best. If you are  looking for a tour of Scotland, then look no further as this company and these guys are the perfect ones to show you a good time. They are amazing!

From the very beginning we were extremely well taken care of.... Niall took care of us pre-trip with great recommendations for food and stay (multiple options) and Andrew showed us around the Highlands. Andrew's local knowledge took us to remote places that most visitors will never see... Andrew's rendition of "Oh, Jean" was priceless as was his story of the Giant Threm. The Isle of Skye is a nature wonderland... We enjoyed riding on the last Turntable Ferry to Glenelg and seeing all of the seals getting ready to hunt for fish. We took an additional day trip to St Andrews as well with Andrew and that was a very memorable experience as the DP tour was playing there. On the way back, out came the Whisky Chest for a last toast to a great trip! I felt like we experienced several hidden gems each day. Thanks to Niall and Andrew for making lasting memories. My only regret is we did not see the Loch Ness Monster... next time!

We took a 4 day tour with Alan as our guide which probably most resembles the Isle of Sky tour. Alan was extremely knowledgeable and customized our days to match our interests. We especially loved that he knew of several beautiful areas for walks in the highlands that were empty of other tourists to match our interest for being in the country. He added on a great distillery tasting and made sure I could get close and personal with a hairy coo! He was a superb host and guide, and friend by the end of the tour. Communication with Niall was great throughout the booking experience. I would definitely recommend this company to others.

It’s been my dream to visit Scotland and Niall McOwan of Scottish Guided Tours made this the trip of my lifetime. He took wonderful care of us for five days, he created so many wonderful experiences for us - I’ll never forget it - we took his Outlander Tour - as a Scot he is a wealth of Scots history, plus - he knows Outlander the show. We missed him terribly when it was over. Ten stars!
