Visited on Saturday. The comedy was good, no gripes there, and all and the staff were polite. Selection of drinks reasonable, not great though. My issue is that I booked online for myself & my girlfriend for our weekend visit to Edinburgh. We turned up 45 mins before the performance and all tables and chairs were taken. I could see... More

You cannot fault them for offering a free comedy show on a Sunday afternoon. (1.30). Get there early to get snacks and a table! Something different to do and fun. Before the show the have food like nachos and wedges that looked ace. I just got drinks and crisps from the bar- very cheap actually. Stu and Gary were entertaining.... More

Can't fault this venue apart from possibly the cludgies which were a bit of a pit and down a hazardous metal staircase! Compete and acts were excellent atmosphere excellent bar excellent-and we fully tested it! Cannot recommend this highly enough for a great night out. Nb not for the easily offended but I suspect these people deliberately seek out opportunities... More

Second time at the stand, both times FANTASTIC! Comedians all brilliant and staff very friendly and quick (always very busy). Really brings something different to a weekend away. Advice:: arrive early, or you'll have to stand.we were lucky enough to get seats both times. The house beer "comedy beer" is rather gross but apart from that bar good and well... More

I went 2 nights , Friday night was the professionals, £10 in , had to stand, bit of old jokes, where are you from kinda stuff. Monday night was pure raw nervous energy. It was only £2 , stood at back again. Strangely much better from new talent. One guy really bombed, he was a therapist, kept telling us that... More

A great night doing something different. Only £15 each for over 2 hours of comedy and 5 different acts of all genders and ethnicities. You must arrive just before the doors open other wise you will not get a good seat. We arrived with 5 minutes to opening and there was a queue outside but we managed to get a... More

Visited on a Tuesday night for 'Bona Fide', where they have 5 comedians trying out new material. At £5, was great value for money and for the most part, they were all really funny. The compere was also great and really enthusiastic. Definitely worth a visit.

What a great experience! We thought £12.50 was quite expensive for a Monday night, but absolutely loved it! Jeff innocent, Andrew Stanley, Larry dean, what great comedians!! So worth the money, food and wine great with excellent service!! Fully recommend.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
