About
My name is Sujai and I came to Edinburgh 13 years ago for just a year initially, but kept staying on because it's the kind of place that draws you in.
I have a PhD in Evolutionary Biology but am fascinated by all branches of Science and am always looking for the stories behind the events and discoveries: the people, the context, and the challenges they faced.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This tour was wonderful! Sujai is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable when it comes to sharing stories about scientists associated with Edinburgh. We loved how passionate he was and also all the props that he made to help us remember all these important scientists. It's a tour not to be missed!

On each of my many trips to Edinburgh, I've walked through both the famous and lesser-known parts of this beautiful city with the energetic, story-telling, science-loving Sujai – long before he started officially giving tours. So I was thrilled when I heard that wandering with this enthusiastic scientist is now a walking tour option for everyone – not just his visiting friends! This tours weaves together fascinating stories from many scientific disciplines with humor and passion, and all in an atmosphere that feels instantly interactive and friendly. Oh, and don't worry if you happen to be traveling with someone who claims they're "not a science person". Trust me, they'll still love the tour, and it may make them a science person after all.

Thank you for testing out a lot of the material over several years! The Wander of Science has been fun to do precisely because of people like you who are curious about the world around them and want to fill in the gaps between facts and dates with real stories of real people :-)

Great tour! Instead of the usual ghost stories and legends, a tour that sticks to science. Sujai is very friendly and keen to interact. Focuses as well on the lesser known stories, so recommended for both tourists and Edinburgh natives

Thank you for the kind words especially because I want this to be a tour not just for tourists, but also for Edinburgh locals who may not know about all the wonderful scientific discoveries that Edinburgh has given the world!

Fantastic tour! Even after living in Edinburgh for years Sujai took us to places and told stories that I didn't know. This tour is awesome is you want to see central Edinburgh and learn about its history off the beaten path of all the standard ghost and Harry Potter tours.

Despite being a local, I learned loads that I didn’t know about Edinburgh and the science content was fascinating even for a non-scientist like me! And a special shout-out for the Edinburgh Seven story and its long overdue but shockingly recent happy ending. Loads to learn and all stories shared with enthusiasm by Sujai. Great tour!

I knew a lot of the stories already, but I learnt so many amazing stories while researching this tour, so it's been a real pleasure to share them with everyone - tourists and locals. Glad you enjoyed the tour!

Sujai filled the two hours with enthusiasm, anecdote and history. Standing in the Medical School Quad we found out that the discovery of chloroform as an anaesthetic was an accidental outcome of a bunch of doctors trying every imbibable or sniffable substance going just to see what happened, and that they were lucky not to have killed themselves. We also got Sujai's rendition of the Penicillin musical! Sam (aged 9 3/4) wasnt tempted by the Harry Potter tours happening all around... listened to every word!

Thank you both for coming! Sam was an exceptional audience member, and thank you for your insights into Darwin's beach in Edinburgh (now Seafield)

It will absolutely be a lost for science and history lovers if you miss this tour when coming to Edinburgh. This is a well-curated and well-told experience about how some of the most iconic events and figures of Science had happened in this city. Don't worry about being lost or bored with facts, as the whole tour is an augmented story where you yourself get to play a curious student and actively see and touch things as well. The crowd of this tour are also delightful people who will fact-check or add in to what Sujai tell you - the enthusiastic and funny guide. The tour is not limited to any type of audience, but the more you are interested in connecting the dots, the more it will satisfy.

One of the best parts of doing this tour has been learning several stories from the tour-goers - I've had geneticists, zoologists, physicists on the tour who've contributed fascinating facts and anecdotes. Thanks for coming and for being such an enthusiastic dot-connector!

One of the best walking tours I have done so far! If you are interested in science and big discoveries or simply want a tour off the beaten track of ghost stories and Harry Potter, this is the tour to go for! Really enjoyed the 1.5 hours learning about Darwin and co and how Edinburgh is related to their discoveries.

Delighted you enjoyed the tour! I figured there were enough tours about made up stuff in Edinburgh, especially when there are so many fascinating TRUE stories about amazing discoveries and extraordinary people here!

I was pretty surprised too when I first started researching this tour about how many of the scientists and discoveries in this city connected with each other. So it's been a real pleasure to share those connections with you. Thanks for wandering along!
