We commenced our tour at the Waverley Street Bridge, where there is a ticket office. There are several choices of routes, The Edinburgh Tour, The City Sightseeing Tour or the Majestic Tour; we chose the Majestic. Depending on the time of year, this tour runs between 20 and 30 minute intervals. The bus fleet of 'open topped' buses are modern,... More

We bought a family ticket (2 adults and 2 teenagers) for the Majestic Tours for £49. We went on a blue and yellow bus up to Leith to go in the Royal Yacht Britannia. It was an interesting journey, with lots of interest facts. We then returned to Waverley Street, again on a Majestic Tour bus. On the return journey... More

Get a real feel for the city by taking the tour and then repeating it, only this time, hopping off at one of the long list of super places to visit. Staff so friendly and helpful and if it's dry weather, sit upstairs in the open air!

We purchased the 48 hr 3 loops ticket that included entry to castle , royal yacht and holyrood palace. This was good value and gave you fast track entry. The yacht in particular was very busy and this was February so I can only imagine the summer queues , so the fasttrack is a really good idea especially if time... More

We did the Majestic Tour, principally because we wanted to get to the Botanic Gardens from the city centre. As a means of getting you easily to one of the VERY BEST breakfast and lunch places in Edinburgh, it can't be faulted - that's the Gateway Restaurant at the Botanics if you didn't already know.... Ticket sales are efficient, and... More

HelenHy2014 Thanks for taking the time to review your experience on our Majestic Tour. As you say, it is the tour that takes you away from the city centre towards the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Britannia. it complements our city centre tours so does not cover the main city centre attractions. I am slightly confused by your comment about... More

Tour around Edinburgh. Was a bit of a rip off considering the tour was over in 30 mins. I know its a hop on and off kind of tour but didn't really stop anywhere far enough that was interesting/ historic.

We bought a 48 hour pass as it was only £2 more than the 24 hour one. We made full use of the passes during our visit including stops at Britannia, The Botanical Gardens, The Royal Mile and the old town. As well as getting a great view from the top deck the commentary is interesting and on the Green... More

We opted for the £20, 24 hour ticket which gave us access to all 3 tours (tickets for 1 tour are £15 and there is a 48 hours option as well). We actually took 2 tours one with a live guide who was very good and one with an audio commentary which was also interesting. Whilst there was a little... More

The bus tour where a great way of seeing Edinburgh. It was a beautiful city and the tour guide was funny and informative and also interact with the tourist in the bus. You also get the chance to explore the city at different stops so that was great. The price of the ticket was not overly price but that my... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
