Welcome to the Jolly Judge public bar in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. Low beamed ceilings, warm fire and a tranquil atmosphere, this is Scottish hospitality at its best. Sample the wide range of malt whiskies, real ales and tempting bar lunches.

Came here for pre dinner drinks, great atmosphere, lots of traditional craft beers and cider. Helpful staff and customers! Down a little side street off the Royal Mile. Like stepping back in time.

Great little pub for a late night drink. No large screen tv for World Cup though. No kids under 18 allowed inside.

Hidden gem. Traditional Scottish pub with good selection of draught beers. Quite a small pub. Not very friendly atmosphere as few locals in when we visited. However bar staff were knowledgeable and accommodating when asking about drinks.

This is another hidden gem just off the busy Royal Mile. Lovely atmosphere, great selection of drinks and in the winter months a real log fire. Definitely worth a wee stop!

We stumbled upon this little gem of a pub a block from the castle down an alleyway. It had wonderful food and a good selection of beverages at a very reasonable price.

It was a real shame the portions were so small on their open sandwiches as they were really delicious but about half the size they should have been. My other half had the butternut squash soup which was very tasty. It's tucked a bit out...More

No idea what the food is like, but the beers I had during my two visits were amongst the best I've had. First priority when entering a pub should be the beer and it seems the owners of this place understand that. Proper drinkers aren't...More

We found this place cosy reasonable prices and once we tucked ourselves in a corner it was great. Staff welcoming and friendly and a quirky joint.

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
