We were recommended by friends to visit the Scotch Whisky experience so the first thing we did when we arrived was headed straight here. The Beer barrel were very informative and great fun. The tasting itself was definitely worth it. Such an impressive collective, its a great experience for sure. Would return here again when we next visit.

Fabulous building which is kept well and shows the pride of Scotland. Spent an afternoon enthralled by the knowledge of the staff. Costly for the Gold Tour but this can be made less expensive if you use Tesco Vouchers. I learned so much about whiskey and purchased a fine one from the shop after the tour.

We signed up to this and were not anticipating it to be as great as it was. We're total novices and knew it would be fun but had a really fun time and learnt a lot. Alex, our guide, was very funny and informative and knew what he was talking about. I had fun, whiskey and learnt something - what's... More

Good location by the castle with a great range of whisky obviously at reasonable prices, nice decor and good staff. The shop is worth a visit too

I knew nothing about whisky and now know fair bit more. The smelling card is a brilliant idea and good tips on how to get the most flavour out of drinking. Propinly not so great if your already a whisky boff. Great tour from vanessa. Brilliant hour.

Not knowing anything about scotch, I found this class a great way to learn about its creation, see the largest collection in the world, and then get to taste a variety ranging from the blended to single malts differing by age and peatiness. It was a group of about 8 people (small on purpose) which made it feel easy to... More

This was definitely the highlight of our visit in Edinburgh. We decided to do the Taste of Scotland Experience. It was fantastic! We had a great tour guide and I even enjoyed the scotch tasting even though my husband is the one who loves scotch. Our dinner was AMAZING! We both agreed it was the best meal we had on... More

The whole experience was so great, they teach you what to look for in whiskey, how to identify flavours and smells and which part of Scotland they're from. The experience also shows how whiskey is made and what makes it single malt, or multiple. Very neat! You also get a free tasting glass with your choice of whiskey and you... More

My partner loved the experiance and how many whiskey there actually was. All his Christmases come at once and loved every minuite. We had the gold your and was worth the money for the extra tasting as with the silver you only get 1. Our tour guide was called hugh which was very friendly. Informative and funny however I found... Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
