Such an interesting tour! I loved when we sat down in the screen room and learnt about the different regions of Scotland and their different whisky tastes. So fascinating and the 3384 bottles of whisky is pretty cool too! You get a drink and a free glass at the end too!

As a birthday treat for my husband I arranged a visit to the scotch whiskey experience, choosing the Platinum tour, well worth the money!. Our tour guide Thomas was a very pleasant young man who was very knowledgeable and able to answer all question that arose from us tourists! It starts with the barrel tour then onto scratch and sniff,... More

good experience for someone who knows nothing about whiskey. It is a ride and a lesson with a taste of one whisky. If you want an indepth lesson on whiskey , I guess you need to get the tour with multiple whiskey tastings. There basic tour is basic with a taste/

Great guides, amazing whisky and a nice bar to sit in after the tour and get a few whiskies down your neck. A very good day out.

My husband and I visited The Scotch Whisky Experience in April of 2017, and I have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We booked the "Taste of Scotland" tour that was including the Platinum Tour and the Taste of Scotland dinner afterwards. I would have to say that the tour was fun, and although the barrel ride was... Advisable to book in advance. Ideally better to book the last slot for the day. Would recommend the the platinum tour. The whisky collection is amazing and worth spending sometime.we also found collection at the whisky store nice. Worth buying some souvenir.

You take a short ride in a barrel and watch a short video learning about the making of the 4 different regions of Scottish whiskey. They show you a "library" of whiskeys. This room was very impressive. The staff was fun and friendly. Then you have your tasting.

Don't miss this experience. You will have the chance to understand how whiskey is made, get to know the largest collection of whiskey bottles in the world, and of course taste the different kind of whiskeys among Scotland. The only drawback is that the tour is somehow hurried and there is not much time for questions or comments, although at... More

My husband is the whiskey drinker, but I also found this an interesting experience. The barrel tour was fun and informative, then there were more information sections hosted by our tour guide Gary, followed by a tasting amongst the massive collection of whiskeys. We only did the silver tour, so I cant comment on the food or extra tastings, but... More

I booked this as an activity for my work colleagues following a team meeting. I paid £72 for 3x gold experiences. This is where you get the tour, then can sit at the bar with 4 tasters from different regions. Great to do. I got worried as tour group was large - there was no impact on the experience though.... Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
