We wanted to visit Scotland in 2020. Covid. 2021 Covid. 2022 Covid. 2022 was not travel restrictions, but my wife .got Covid. Year one and year two Luxury Scotland Tours made it easy by just shifting all our reservations out a year. In 2022 we had to file a travel insurance claim and LST made that as easy as possible by providing all the documentation required to get reimbursed from the insurance company, who, like Voldemort, shall not be named as they were a pain to deal with.

We finally made it in October of 2023. We arrived to the worst rainfall in 30 years and our route to Crinan from Edinburgh was blocked, so we never got there. We retreated to Glasgow for the night. The next day we just tried to get back on track and we did that.

Our guide/driver Neil was amazingly calm throughout, and that kept us calm. He was even calm 30 minutes into the first day of our trip when we were rear-ended in traffic. If this had been a self-driving trip I would have lost my composure. Between the accident and the flooding I'm not sure I would have finished the trip if I had been self-driving. It was great to have someone else handle the adversity of the flooding and the minor car accident.

Our first several days were spent traveling. The last two days were in Edinburgh with a local photographer. His knowledge of Edinburgh and the surrounding area was extensive and he put me in the right place at the right time over and over again to capture some great photos.

All in all we saw a LOT of Scotland. I highly recommend this trip to anybody that wants to see Scotland. Ours was awesome.

I have never done a solo tour of a country before so I was very nervous. I found Luxury Scotland Tours ("LST") on a google search. All I knew was that I wanted to tour Scotland, but I didn't want to have to plan it out myself and it had to be luxury to avoid a bad experience. Their website has several sample tours and I used this as a guide to decide what type of tour I wanted. Then I emailed them and Michelle responded soon after. She gave me a list of questions and I told her which sample tour I wanted my tour to resemble. After several emails, we were able to come up with a luxury tour that fit my budget. Now this was a last minute trip. I only gave myself 30 days. Michelle was able to get me over to Opheile and she made all the finishing touches and arrangements.

Luxury Scotland Tours arranged 5 hotels:

The Balmoral -Edinburgh (1 night) - Great 5 star hotel. Everyone was lovely and LST arranged an afternoon tea and dinner. Both were top notch. The room was comfortable and clean. It had everything you expect from a British 5 star hotel.

Kingsmills Hotel - Inverness (2 nights) - This hotel was on the outskirts of Inverness. I believe it was a 4 start hotel. We did have to do some adjustments to my tour for budget and availability. Because of those adjustments it wasn't as nice as a 5 star hotel and the difference was very clear. The room was spacious but sparce and the service was lacking. However, LST arranged a nice spa experience and I truly enjoyed my treatments. The hotel restaurant was crowed and loud, but the service was not very good and the food was bland. I felt like I wasted 2 nights there.

Inverlochy Castle - Torlundy (1 night) - This was a 5-star hotel inside a castle estate. I was greeted by a lovely staff and I took a tour around the castle. When I got situated in my room, I went down for afternoon tea and the tea service was lovely. Then I walked around the grounds of the estate before going to the original Inverlochy Castle with my driver. Then there was a lovely multicourse dinner planned for all the guests and the food was amazing. The service was excellent and I slept well. I could have stayed there several days.

Perle Oban Hotel & Spa - Oban (1 night) - This was another downgrade of a hotel to fit in my budget. I believe it was also 4-star but the room was tiny and the lights next to the bed was broken and hanging on by some tape. However it was clean and my stay was brief. The restaurant breakfast was great but dinner was bland.

Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel (2 nights) - Finally back to Edinburgh and I checked into this lovely hotel in the new town. I was immediately upgraded to a junior suite and the room was just dreamy. The hotel had a cocktail hour with free beer, wine, soft drinks and cocktails. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was lovely but it was very loud. Breakfast was great too. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and big. It's a beautiful hotel and I will definitely be returning.

LST arrange multiple excursions in each city and town that I visited. Everyone was expecting me and there was never a problem. My drivers David H. and David D. were wonderful and they were very knowledgeable about Scotland in general. I felt comfortable and safe the entire time with David H. (the main driver). David D. filled in for one day and he was funny and a joy to be with as well.

I had a chocolate tasting and a distillery tour, then we drove through the mountains of Glen Coe. David H helped me find the iconic James Bond tourist location from Skyfall. I toured several castles and ruins. I toured Culloden battlefield, I hiked around Ness Walk Island, I did a Loch Ness boat tour with cute old Gordon. Everything was well timed and I enjoyed all of it. My walking tour of Edinburgh with Fiona was great even though a storm came in that day. We still made the best of it and she was delightful.

LST did a wonderful job planning my trip and I wish they did other destinations! I highly recommend them for anyone wanting a carefree luxury tour of Scotland!

Angel and I recently got married and when we talked about our Honeymoon, we decided we wanted to go Scotland. Having never left the United States, I had no idea how to plan a Honeymoon in another country, and I turned to the internet. I found several companies who might fit the bill, including Luxury Scotland Tours. I filled out the “Enquire” form on their website and was contacted back quickly by email by Struan.

I explained that for our honeymoon, we were looking to spend 2 weeks in Scotland and we were particularly interested in top hotels, top restaurants, castles and whisky distilleries. Also, I did not want to worry about anything; I wanted someone to handle all reservations and transportation. Struan put together an itinerary quickly and we went back and forth a few times with my requests, like upgraded hotel rooms, higher end Whiskey tastings and experiences, no boat rides (I don’t do well on small boats…) and some specific distilleries we wanted to visit. In a few of days we had an excellent itinerary put together. Struan then gave me a price, which was within my budget, and I agreed to it.

From that point I worked with a designated travel Co-Ordinator, Florence. She was great! I had plenty of questions, which Florence always answered promptly, always within day. She was able to make any changes I requested and was able to handle any problems that arose. For example, the airline cancelled our return flight and moved us to a flight the next day. Florence was able to book us an extra night at a top hotel, book us a table at a nice restaurant for dinner, and change our chauffer to the airport to the new date and time, all done very quickly. As another example, a hotel we were going to check into that evening had a water leak and could not accommodate us, we were quickly moved to another great hotel, and everything worked out with a minimum of hassle on our end.

Every driver/tour guide/ service/ reservation was professional and on-time. We were assigned a driver for our trip, Ann. She was wonderful! I don’t know how Florence knew how perfect Ann would be for us, but it worked out great. Since we were basically going to spend 2 weeks with our driver as she took us around Scotland, it was very important that we were compatible. Ann was both professional and friendly, knowledgeable and resourceful, and was also an excellent driver on the narrow winding roads of Scotland.

Calling Ann a “driver” is an understatement for what she added to our trip. She was able to adapt to things we wanted to do at any point. For example, while lunches were in the itinerary, Angel and I rarely eat lunch. So we sometimes had some free time going from one place to another. Ann was able to quickly arrange some shopping at an interesting retail area, or a quick tasting at a distillery on the way to our next destination. I can’t describe all the ways Ann made our honeymoon even better than we could have hoped, but she will always have our gratitude.

In the end, we visited 15 distilleries and 9 castles, stayed at some amazing hotels, saw many of the sites of Scotland and ate at some incredible restaurants. Our Honeymoon was a spectacular success with stories we will be telling forever. This was obviously an expensive trip, as we wanted to make sure our Honeymoon was memorable. The planning, service, attention to detail, communication and help provided by Luxury Scotland Tours were totally worth it to us. They provided a truly hassle-free luxury experience that I highly recommend.

We contacted Luxury Scotland Tours to plan a holiday for our family of four adults, and they responded with a brilliant itinerary to explore the Highlands, Orkney and Edinburgh. Struan and Florence asked what we'd like to see and experience, then put together a fabulous roadmap to see castles, abbeys, mountains, beautiful lochs, archaeological sites and ancient standing stones. Oh, and a whisky distillery! The van was very roomy and comfortable. The lodging at each stop was exceptional, with fine restaurants and amenities. The itinerary was flexible, as we opted to change our route along the way to see other sites of interest.

Our driver, Alan, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. By the end of the trip, we had adopted him as family.

Luxury Scotland Tours provides expert planning, excellent services and communication. The best recommendation we can give is that we did not want the tour to end!

FIVE STARS!!!

We spent 10 days in Scotland with a fantastic private driver. We worked closely with the wonderful Ophelie Petijean to set our agenda and organize dinner reservations. We went on a private boat trip around Loch Ness with the charming Captain Gordon and drank champagne on Loch Lomond with Captain Richard. We toured castles, visited a distillery and sampled chocolates at the Highland Choclatier.

If you are planning a trip to Scotland the people at Luxury Scotland Travel will help you plan and enjoy a truly excellent holiday!

Trip of a Lifetime!

We are 8 long time golf friends who had the most wonderful experience of touring Scotland and playing golf at St. Andrews, Gullane, Castle Stuart, Kingsbarns, and Gleneagles for 12 days on a luxury tour created for us by Luxury Scotland Tours. We did not have to plan or do anything but enjoy the trip. Luxury Scotland Tours did it all in style. We give Luxury Scotland Tours greater than 5 stars, 5 stars+, it was truly the best trip we have all experienced. The Mercedes Van was beyond comfortable with snacks and drinks always available, and our drivers, David and Neil, were wonderfully engaging, engaging, and just fun to be with. The lodging was first class with completely comfort and all of our needs taken care. The restaurants recommended by Luxury Scotland Tours were impeccable, incredible food and service, and always walking distance to our hotel. In addition to planning everything our golf days, Luxury Scotland Tours planned a very informative and enjoyable excursions such as a personally guided walking tour Edinburgh, tours of castles, cathedrals, distilleries, a private tasting with Iain Burnett, a renowned chocolatier, a private cruise with Gordon on the Loch Ness, shopping areas, and the list goes on. Luxury Scotland Tours’ attention to detail for the enjoyment of their clients cannot be overstated. It was truly the trip of a lifetime for all of us. Thank you Helen, David, Neil, Struan and all of you at Luxury Scotland Tours!

Amy organised the perfect 10 day self drive tour of the Scottish Highlands that was tailored to our needs. Everything went exactly to plan. Every person that we interacted with as part of the tour was fantastic from Russell who delivered the hire car through to all hotel staff. Amy booked all hotels and all meal reservations for us.
All 5 hotels we stayed at were really excellent but Culloden House was a standout with amazing staff and we recommend that you consider upgrading to a suite rather than a standard room. Allow time to explore the grounds at The Torridon. The Ness Walk Hotel was also excellent with fantastic service.
The scenery was amazing especially on the Isle of Sky and on the drive between Gairloch and the Applecross Peninsula. We took more than 1,000 photographs across the 10 days. The Fairy Glen was very scenic and a very easy walk. The Fairy Pools were excellent and also an easy walk with well defined paths but a bit crowded. We recommend doing the full loop walk at the Quiraing even though it is a bit challenging and does take nearly 3 hours to complete. The views are amazing. The Old Man of Storr was quite busy but also worth the steep uphill walk. The views from the Fyrish Monument were fantastic and well worth the walk up the steep but well defined and maintained path.
Victoria falls and the Falls of Shin were the two standout water falls and were not too busy when we visited following heavy rain. We all cheered for the Salmon that were leaping up the Falls of Shin.
Cawdor Castle and Dunrobin Castle were both excellent but Eilean Donan Castle did not meet our high expectations in terms of the room displays and it was very busy.
We enjoyed so many great meals but especially enjoyed dinner at Culloden House and at the Ness Walk Hotel. We also enjoyed the more basic dinner at the Coach House in Dornoch and enjoyed lunch at Cawdor Tavern, The Claunie Bar and Kitchen and had great fish and chips at the Shieldaig Bar & Coastal Kitchen.
We were underwhelmed by the "Wee Hoose" but maybe had the wrong expectations.
We certainly recommend booking your Scottish Highland Tour with Luxury Scotland Tours.

Two couples traveled from Canada to Scotland for 10 days and took a private driver tour with Luxury Tours. Florence organized a very detailed itinerary for us. She tailored the trip to our needs and abilities. Brian was our amazing driver. Brian was professional, knowledgeable and fun. Taking a private tour was the best choice as it afforded us the flexibility and comfort to do and see what we wanted, even though some of the excursions were prebooked. The hotels and sites were amazing. I would highly recommend taking a private tour and I would highly recommend Luxury Tours. We were not disappointed and our first trip to Scotland was outstanding and will be fondly remembered for years to come!!

Could not have been any better. Everything was amazing. Everything from the hotels to the sights to the food was perfectly planned. It truly was a trip that when you were done we were able to say we would have changed absolutely nothing. Our tour director Helen was professional, attentive, and able to accommodate any change at any time. I wish we could take our driver Allan with us wherever we go. Knowledgeable, warm, and personable don’t come close to describing him. Cannot recommend Luxury Tours highly enough. It’s great when your dealing with true professionals. Would use the again without a moments thought.
