Edinburgh Zoo is set in 82 acres of sloping parkland and is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. It is home to over 1,000 rare and endangered animals, including chimpanzees, sun bears, Indian Rhinos, the UK's only koalas and the first Giant Pandas in the UK for 17 years. You can experience a busy programme of educational events and activities from keeper talks to hands-on animal encounters. There is also a wide-range of eating experiences, several play areas and a fantastic gift shop.Viewing for the Giant Pandas is free but ticketed.(Included with entry fee) To avoid disappointment we are advising all visitors to pre-book their tickets through our website to guarantee viewing. Panda viewing tickets must be booked at the same time as you buy your entry ticket.

You can tell Edinburgh Zoo cares for the animals and conservation. To see giant pandas need booking (free with ticket price but just need an allotted slot) so pre book online! Onsite "Grasslands Cafe" does very good stonebaked to order pizzas as well as other food for reasonable price. Such a lovely trip out- can do a condensed version in... More

My wife and I have recently returned from a weekend in Edinburgh and the zoo was a must for us to visit. As we travelled up from Wales we had booked viewing slots to see the pandas prior to visiting and this is a must for those that are wanting to see them! Our slot was at 10:30 and we... More

Well worth a visit whilst in Edinburgh. Quite hilly so prepare yourself for a walk! Lovely views of Edinburgh from the top. Plenty of animals to see and visit. The only thing annoying is that we pre-booked tickets to avoid any queues, however on the day the prepaid ticket queue was much longer than the pay on the day queue!... More

myself and my partner visited for his birthday and we had a great day. We arrived at 9:30am and stayed until 3pm s defiantly worth the money, we paid £38.99 in total for 2 adults and that also included a booking to see the giant pandas. We were given a map of the zoo as the zoo is so big... More

We visited the zoo, but were disappointed. There had been an outbreak of avian flu and a lot of the walk through areas were closed. Most of the animals were indoors even though it was a mild 11*C. I feel the staff should have informed people of the restricted access to some areas.

Thank you for leaving a review and your comments. I am very sorry that you are disappointed with your recent visit. Unfortunately due to Government Legislation regarding the Avian Flu Prevention Zone we have had to close our Aviary Walkthroughs; Penguins Rock, Brilliant Birds and Pelican Walkthrough. However these areas all still provide viewing so that you can experience these... More

Had a really lovely time. Thought it was affordable compared to other zoos. Definitely book to see the pandas as they were amazing! A couple of the areas were limited but obviously I understand with the time of year not all attractions would be available. I will say that if you're planning on taking a pram or struggle with hills,... More

Spent a great day at the zoo with our 7 year old daughter - she loved all the animals and birds. From the pandas, tigers, monkeys and wild dogs as well as the penguins.

Excellent day out with children of all ages. Amazing animals looked after well in as close a natural habitat as possible. Great zoo keeper talks and the panda exhibit is amazing (book a time slot). The Koala enclosure is stunning and as per usual they did not move a muscle 😂😂😂. We will return again in the near future and... More

Great zoo, that being said we went when the zoo opened and it seemed like a lot of the animals were not in their enclosures yet. The pandas are only viewable via a timed ticket. It should also be noted that people get quite competitive in the queue to see the pandas. There was lots of queue jumping and mild... More
