The World Famous Underground Ghost Tour

806 reviews
At street level, Edinburgh is a peaceful and pretty city—but the subterranean tunnels below tell an entirely different story. On this ghostly walking tour, explore historic sites including Greyfriars Kirkyard and St. Giles’ Cathedral with your enthusiastic guide, and hear chilling tales of murder and revenge. Delve down into underground caverns normally closed to the public, and learn of Edinburgh’s grim and gruesome past.

Beautiful grounds with Japanese Kyoto gardens something very special. Treat for suburban area. Added bonus Mimi's bakehouse new in grounds. Superb coffee and cake including for the doggies! Cramond nearby for beach walk too. Perfect day

Not strictly a castle. Park your car at the entrance and walk down the drive to the house.Take the tour of the house and admire the views over the River Forth to Fife. Walk in the extensive gardens, but choose a good day weatherwise. Also take the short walk to the Japanese Garden, which celebrates the twinning of Edinburgh and Kyoto. The gardens are free to wander around, but there is a charge for the guided tour of the house.

I caught the 37 Silverknowes bus from Princes Street to the terminus near the castle. . It takes about 1/2 hour then there’s a 10 minute walk. I didn’t go inside the castle as i went in the morning and they only do tours at 2p.m. in Winter, you cannot walk round the house yourself. No matter the grounds were lovely even in Winter with great views of Cramond Island The Japanese Garden was nice as well I didn’t think it would be great in winter at all. The rose garden was neglected though. They had outside toilets and people could take their dogs except into the Japanese Garden. There us a pond near the house but unfortunately that was a bit neglected too but overall good for walks.

This was a great event. Bit different from anything I have attended before. It was well organised all the hosts were great and made the whole experience enjoyable. Only got sneak preview of castle so I can’t wait to go back and have proper look round the castle! The grounds look great as well ! Well done

A treat, as ever, to spend the day in the impressive mansion that is Lauriston Castle - with the added option of a guided tour. But the real purpose is to craft Christmas wreaths, very ably guided and encouraged by Margaret (and helped along with lots of tea/coffee/cakes). All the raw materials and tools are provided and a special joy is the wonderful variety of greenery. The final products are always amazing in their variety and absolutely unique. Wouldn't miss it!
