It is one of the most inspirational places I have ever been to. My office was at the corner and I was blessed to pass this place everyday. Lively, full of people, historical, everything you need to make you calm and peaceful.

There is always something going on in the Grassmarket. This lively part of Edinburgh has some of the oldest pubs, decent restaurants and the site of the gallows, where William Burke (of Burke & Hare fame) was hung. Worth a visit...

I have not been to the Grass Market at that time of year but I would believe the restaurants and pubs would stay open as it is the owners and employees means of earning a living and also, it is a good hang out for the locals... More
