My friend and I had such a great time on this tour. We're both long time Potter lovers who have since grown up and it's been a while since we delved into the Potter world. This tour, and especially our tour guide (I think her name was Becky), were a fantastic way to re-enter the Potter world once again. Be... More

Perfect walk with wonderful guide. Great to see the hidden inspiration behind the novels through the eyes of true nerds! Tour is free, but everone felt absolutely fine paying for it at the end. Kid loved it too!

Definitely a must-do if you're a Potter fan! Lots of great stops and the guide made every stop highly entertaining, even in the pouring rain. We had a huge group but the guide accommodated us and really made sure everyone could get a good look at things.

Went last Saturday on the 3pm tour. Our tour guide (or should I say Potions Master) was named Will, you could tell he is very passionate about HP which makes the experience even more magical!!! He was really good and the tour was truly fascinating, it lasts one hour only and definitely worth every minute!

We did the tour with our 2 young children, age 12 and 9, they're extremely enjoyed this Harry Potter tour that they asked me to donate £20 for the guide tour person. And of course, we did, as the guide tour person was very funny and kept our kids entertained with stories and magic wands. Absolutely is a must if... More

We discovered this FREE tour at the last minute & could not have been more pleasantly surprised. Our guide - filled with personality - took us on a fun tour of the spots that inspired JK Rowling's Harry Potter series. Definitely worth the generous tip that we offered at the end!

What a fantastic find! We were lucky to see the poster advertised in High Street Hostel where we are staying. There was a huge group - at least 100 - and the tour guide, Jodie, handled it really well. She projected her voice fantastically and kept the whole group engaged. There was a mixture of adults and children. A lot... More

Tour guide: Jodie This tour was amazing. It was quite possibly the biggrst tour led by one person I have seen. There were over 200 people. Jodie handled this very well and made everyone feel involved, even the small children. We could not have asked for a better tour to see the inspiration for characters in real life. I would... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
