The Black Cat is an independent business on the lively Rose Street, Edinburgh. It was established two years ago and now in the words of the Financial Times Mag "one of Edinburgh's top five places to hang out" and we agree.... This bar specialises in Scottish Whisky, currently with over 130+ (and ever growing)malts. Staff are well trained for any whiskies questions so make sure you challenge them when you get your dram! Whether your a novice or an expert we have something for you! We do have a small bar menu, basic but sure it's only to munch on with a pint! We are all Scottish (we do have Guinness, but that's a standard!

Popped in for a pint after dinner, than we decided to try some whiskeys, because the back bar is genuely loaded with it. So we had "angel's share", 15£ for 3 single shot, the bartender made the recommendations and talked us through the scotch giving...More

In Edinburgh with lovers of Scotch and somehow ended up here three nights in a row. The Scotch menu is two inches thick! Lots of choices here I had never heard of, but then I am no expert. We did appreciate the advice from the...More

My friends and I loved this place so much we went twice in a day. The first time was for lunch. The meat pie was impeccable, with juicy meat was surrounded by flaky crust that melted in your mouth. The second time was for whiskey,...More

It is a reasonable Rose Street bar. The staff were pleasant, the outside seating adequate, and the choice of beers good in range and variety so it ticks several boxes. It does not look old fashioned or historic but it does what it says on...More

We enjoyed a pint outside the venue on rose street. A stylish venue with a great variety of drink's on the menu. Staff were friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend a visit.

Looked pretty ordinary at lunch time. Only in for a drink, but the food list looked OK. The outside seating benches are very ordinary and traffic passes very close.

Yeah, I know all Scottish pubs have whisky, but these guys were very knowledgeable and helpful. Several pre-selected flights they explain.

We've tried this place with a group of friends. It is on this amazing street has outdoor seating (if the weather permits) and really friendly staff. They have a good selection of beers but I think the impressive collection is of whisky. They also have...More

Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to

with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many
of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest

helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned
Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric
