Great find. Awesome local joint. Craving a Coors Light and this place felt like Mecca. Friendly staff. Convenient to some great dining choices. Music on the jukebox was great as well

Good mix of tourists and locals, a real local vibe going on, ordered some drinks, only one lady behind the bar, we dropped our drinks by mistake, had to go and ask her to clean up, but she was so overrun that she couldn't do it, anyway, me being mr nice took a lend of a mop and bucket and... More

After searching somewhere to have a wee rest and a drink about 5pm on a Wednesday we finally found this gem. Happy to allow two couples and four children to enjoy refreshments with no pressure to order food. Friendly, helpful barmaid.

Decent pub, clean and good drink prices. 2nd time I've been in here and greeted by the same sarcastic and miserable bar maid. No interaction made with anyone. Why work with the public if you can't be bothered to speak to them or at least be friendly! Won't be back!

Decent pint on Rose street. It is a typical pub, no frills and satisfies your thirst on a warm day. Worth dropping in for a beer

Called here with my wife and her mum for a drink and was quietly surprised how busy it was. We were served and made welcome from the staff and enjoyed more than one or two drinks.

We were here a few days ago, of all the places we visited in Edinburgh this was the least friendly. Staff were more interested in texting behind the bar then talking to the customers, no hello, goodbye or thank you. Edinburgh is a lovely city and the Scots are very friend but there are much nicer places to visit, we... More

Rose street is a wonderful little street where you can buy souvenirs, go for a walk or take a coffee. The atmosphere is great and all the people are polite and friendly. It is not to be missed if you are near Princes Street.

Went in here to watch the footy one Saturday afternoon. Nice friendly pub, barmaids were very pleasant with a prompt service and a friendly smile!! Served a very nice pint. Ended up staying longer with our friends as there was a nice atmosphere in the pub

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
