This is an essential part of touring around New Town. Not busy -- few tourists, no buskers, thus unlike the Royal Mile. Gives you an understanding of why New Town was built.

We visited the week before Christmas Great Christmas tree on the square, and the lights on the street were really impressive. Definitely worth a visit.

It's a nice enough square on foot. Shame that the gardens in the centre are inaccessible. Traffic around it is poorly managed and you often get clarted up when driving, which needs addressed.
