Charlotte Square, overall, is a wonderful example of the Georgian architecture for which Edinburgh is so well famed. The National Trust of Scotland has restored No. 7 Charlotte Square into what the house would have looked like in the early 1800s. This house is open...More

Love the transformation of the Georgian Square into the village that is the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Anyone who loves to read, or hear about books, or just hang out in a relaxed environment should make a visit during August each year. So much to...More

We were adamant that we visit this house as it really was the reflection of Georgian life, considered to be the "modern" life. The Georgian house was built with new levels of modernity which the average Scots could only dream of. So this beautiful and...More

In the center of Charlotte Square is a beautiful small park surrounded by amazing Georgian buildings. It is as if you have traveled through time. The sculpture of Prince Albert mounted on a horse is attractive. In order to enjoy the Square you need to...More

The park itself was relatively bare when we visited, but the Georgian homes and bulidings that surround the square give it an old New Town feel.

A beautiful square, fine example of Edinburgh at its best.....just a shame it has to house Alex Salmond. Living in Edinburgh I deliberately make a detour to include this walk into my route somewhere.

Wonderful park-like area of New Town near The Georgian House and Rose Street (shops, pubs, lots of outdoor seating, etc.). A wonderful example of the planning that went into making Edinburgh a beautiful and very livable city.

A small park here in the New Town of Edinburgh, a stroll through the historic buildings of the city but also the best pubs in the area. A quite large statue stands at the center of the park, for sure is not the top Edinburgh's...More

Charlotte Square is a dull and disappointing as the Scottish weather. The constant road diversions and tram works have added nothing to this square and it is in desperate need of some kind of makeover. The same could be said of Princes Street along with...More

Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along
