I've done bus tours in other cities but none was as good as this one! The family ticket (for 3 of us) was £54 for 48 hours. This covered 3 different bus routes which allowed us to see so many of the tourist attractions. One of the routes covers Ocean View Terminal and Royal Yacht Britannia. It was so easy... More

We chose the ticket which transported us and gave us free entry into Edinburgh Castle, Royal Yacht Britannia and Holyrood Palace. We were staying in the city for 3 days so this was a great option. The gentlemen selling the tickets on Waverley Bridge are so helpful and informative and go out of their way to ensure you get the... More

We did the Edinburgh hop on hop off bus purely to see the different sights around the city. The prices were very reasonable with a number of stops to visit various attractions. The tour guide was good as he explained the history of the city throughout the tour. It is a good way of seeing certain parts of the city... More

I recomend these, the guides are entertaining and funny, i would use these again. The tour bus takes you around the sites to save your feet, you can get off at any location and jump back on when it is convient to yourself. This allows you times to views at your own leisure.

Loved the main tour bus, covers all the main places and is easy to spot where to get on and off. Live guide tour section was irritating. He just kept talking about himself.

Like many others, we have discovered that taking the hop on hop off tour is a great introduction to Edinburgh. The tour helps you to get oriented to the city and to decide which attractions you might want to visit. If possible sit upstairs because you will have a better view. We are likely to take the tour again on... More

This is a great tour. We used this service as part of the Royal Edinburgh Tour package which included the use of these busses, as well as visits to the Edinburgh Castle, the Holyrood, and the Royal Britannia. The bus had a tour guide who was quite funny and was incredibly knowledgable about the route. Very interesting!

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
