One of my favourite places, ever

A beautiful and long stretch of beach. I love going there when outside is dark, and walk on this stretch of beach without socks and feel the freezing water.

I saw an earlier review of Portobello beach and listened to the song by the Valves. They were right - ain't no surf in Portobello. It is however a lovely calm beach, great for a walk along the prom or the shore. Very bracing on a windy day but so calm and peaceful when quiet. A few places to eat... More

The settings were really nice but we were hugely disappointed by the amount of dog muck all over the beach. We were there during the winter so I'm hoping it was an off-season thing because it really was quite filthy. Hopefully next time we can visit during the warmer months and tell a different story. 2/5

A walk along Portobello prom is as lovely on a cold day and it is on a warm day. It will certainly blow away any cobwebs! Beautiful

Great coffee, and the pastries and cakes looked great too, but as they were not gluten free I couldn't have them. You are missing a trick cafe miro, whoever did the bakery products is obviously very skilled. Add a gluten free almond cake or something similar, and you could be top notch.

Visited here on cold windy day possibly more interesting and enjoyable on a summer's day with lots of interesting cafes and eating places along the promenade a very holiday beach attraction for locals and tourist alike. Lack of public toilets is it's down fall so be prepared when visiting. Good looking beach as far as UK beaches are concerned and... More

We were here on a sunny winter's day and it was lovely. A long stretch of clean looking sand on the beach and excellent views across the Forth. There is free parking close by and quite a few nice looking cafes and restaurants although we didn't try any. There's also a little amusements which was popular with kids. Great place... More
