We hiked up to wild camp and it ended up hailing and snowing on us. In April! Welcome to Scotland. :) This was a very beautiful hike, and the lake (also called, Lochan Uaine) was very beautiful. We saw some grouse in the morning. The lands were dotted with snow. A stark beauty.

The "Green Loch", as we'll forever know it, is a bit of a long walk- from Glenmore Lodge- for younger children but it is an extremely beautiful and peaceful destination. Behind Glenmore Lodge off the road to Cairngorm mountain, is a well maintained track taking you up to the Green Lochan. It takes about half an hour to reach it through coniferous woodland, but there are some lovely views over the hills, and when you reach it is a calm and peaceful.
