John and Alison(?) (Mr. Clart and Ms. Brain) were adorable foils for this Edinburgh evening out. Poetry and performance, and stops at three nice pubs for a pint was a great way to spend the first evening in Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

Fun evening full of both the classic Scottish writers, and some modern ones, and of course some really great pubs.

I am no literary buff, in fact I was taking this tour to humour a friend of mine. But in the end I was completely hooked in and I am now quite tempted to read Ivanhoe along with other Scottish literary works that I will...More

My husband and I had a great time except...the large group that held the entire group back by buying bottles of champagne at each stop and we could not leave until they finished. Other than that it was great!

We had a great time with our literary tour guides, who led us both physically around Edinburgh (a great primer for us, brand-new to the city) and historically through Edinburgh's literary heroes. The actors (John and Riley) were both hilarious and entertaining and well-informed. They...More

In a short visit to Edinburgh (or any city, really) you can't really discover the heart of a city. In taking a tour, you hope to get a glimpse, and the literary pub tour did just that. We loved the route this walking tour followed,...More

Brilliant - the actors (Paul and Hazel I think) were wonderful. Yes, it involves as many pubs as it does literary figures, but we thought it was a really enjoyable way to spend a few hours in the evening. The history and poetry were interesting...More

Great pub crawl. Nice experience! I'm just offering some constructive criticism, and in no way slamming this fun experience. I think the beginning of the tour, Mr. Clart, aka, Paul, should have mentioned the writers that he was going to talk about during the tour...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
