Had booked this with my other half, I'm just starting to like the taste of gin so thought why not. On arrival we were greeted with a complementary glass of pickerings gin and tonic and it was delicious (my new favourite gin) before being shown the the distillery. If you're expecting something on a huge scale be prepared, it's not.... More

This is a small and newish (est 2013) distillery housed within the old veterinary college at Summerhall. Pickering’s is becoming more and more famous with a growing popularity not only around Edinburgh but also the rest of the world. The informative tour lasts about an hour and costs just a tenner per person. You receive a complimentary G&T to sip... More

Although not really a tour as it was only two rooms, we had a fascinating couple of hours in the company of the guide whose passion for and extensive knowledge of her subject shone through and was infectious. Well worth a visit.

After a delicious bite to eat in the bar we met up with the friendly and cheerful Pickering's guide. We could only have visited if our 9 and 11 year old were permitted to join us and all emails leading up to the tour were helpful and welcoming and included the children. All four of us found the tour fascinating... More

The set up is fantastic, we met in the Royal Dick Bar, had a late lunch and then the tour. The distillery is really small, however the guide is important and she was fantastic, a real credit to the Company - so informative, engaging, and interactive. It was great to come back out and sit and chill in the bar... More

I came on this tour with my sister who lives here. The tour was great - our guide knew lots about the history of the company, as well as how the gin is distilled. We got a free gin and tonic at the bar as then tasters on the tour! Great for only £10 :) If you want a unique... More

If you get there early grab some of the starters from The Royal Dick. Hour long informative and fun tour and tasting. Our two children - 9 and 11 - loved the tour but obviously not the gin.

I live here in Edinburgh and have been to pickerings gin tour twice and Edinburgh gin tour 3 times with various friends and family. In comparison Edinburgh gin tour gives you alot of history if that's what your looking for but pickerings in tour is the best out of the two. The best thing about Pickerings is your paying for... Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
