We just returned from a wonderful trip to Scotland thanks to Iain. We cannot recommend Iain high enough. We toured both Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside on two separate days with Iain. We have taken many private tours before in different countries, but none better than these. Iain is a rare find these days, a true renaissance man. He is equally comfortable talking to you about history, linguistics, music, or culture. His Scottish pride is palpable. We came away from the tours with a much greater appreciation and understanding of Scotland thanks to Iain and that was despite almost constant rain both days! We cannot recommend him highly enough.

Thank you so much for your review. It was an absolute pleasure to tour with you. Despite the wild weather we managed to cover a lot of ground! I am glad that you felt that you gained such an appreciation and understanding of Scotland. Your recommendation is very welcome indeed. Best wishes to you both.

We returned home this afternoon after a lovely couple of days spent in Edinburgh. Peter was our guide for an afternoon spent on and around the Royal Mile Both my Wife and I commented upon how enjoyable and informative our tour was with Peter. If we hadn’t of spent time with him then we would certainly have not recognised or identified how much history is available to know and learn within the immediate area. Peter’s knowledge of the area is unquestionable, yet his wit, humour and personality allowed us to feel comfortable asking many questions and his advice on where to sample a tipple or two was spot on. Would we recommend him, absolutely.

Thanks so much for the review. Peter was delighted to tour with you and commented on how knowledgeable and interested you both were on the walking tour. I am so pleased that Peter brought the wealth of experience of the The Royal Mile/ Old Town area to you, and that he steered you in the direction of some real local pubs too!

Joanne was our guide for our trip from Edinburgh to St Andrews. She was most knowledgeable and took us to interesting places - Falkland (loved it!), Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, and Culross among a few. She was an amazing guide and it was a joy to tour with her. Her husband, Iain, took over in St Andrews and was with us the rest of the trip. His knowledge of Scottish history was incredibly impressive and his patience with all of our questions was most appreciated. With a wonderful driver/guide at the wheel, we were able to sit back, or get out and walk, listen, and see all the beauty that is Scotland. Loved "discovering" the little church on the Isle of Skye that was a surprise even to Iain. I will recommend Serenity and Iain/Joanne to anyone I meet who is going to Scotland.

Thank you so much for the fabulous review. Joanne's enthusiasm is infectious and I am so pleased that it was a joyful experience. I was delighted to work with you too. Your interest in all we toured and general bonhomie made the trip a pleasure. We aim to take any stress or doubt out of touring so that you can relax, have some fun, and learn something new along the way. The disused kirk on Skye was a treat for me for after travelling to Skye since I was a boy I had never come across that building, and what a charmed spot it was!

We were recommended Serenity Scotland by another Scotsman. Iain and Joanne were most excellent guides and drivers. There were 4 of us and I came a bit late, so the group began with Joanne and then Iain picked me up at the airport and off to St. Andrews we went to join the others. Iain then became our driver/guide as Joanne began another tour. Iain was a huge help in our pre-planning of the trip. We told him areas/ places we would like to see and he mapped it out perfectly. Each day had plenty of sights/ great food and we always ended at the perfect time--so we weren't exhausted at the end of the day. Iain is very knowledgeable of all the beautiful country's history. I loved how Iain would add something fun/interesting to each day--a sight that normally you would not have on your itinerary. I highly recommend them and advise you to book early.

It is great to hear from you and thank you so much for the wonderful feedback and review.. We are so  happy to see that together we all made such a wonderful experience. Your collective humor and interest in everything made the trip a treat to guide. We are glad that the timings worked so well to allow you time to relax in the evening and enjoy Scotland's culinary delights. I am glad also that we had the time and flexibility during the day to amend and add places and experiences as wished.

Luckily for me I did research and found Iain and Serenity Scotland! We booked both a Highlands and Central Scotland tour! Very well organized and we saw everything that you should on a first trip to Scotland! Iain was beyond accommodating he made two special stops for us one to the computer store and fit in a Dewars distillery visit! One of my favorite stops Rob Roy’s grave many of the little unknown places only he would know! He is also a well versed historian and knows every inch of this beautiful Country! So much interesting information added to our enjoyment! Trust me, a private tour is amazing well worth every penny, and you leave with a new friend! By the way so sweet of you Iain to remember our Anniversary with a Scottish Cookbook! May you and your wife continue to enjoy the beauty of Scotland and have a wonderful holiday season hoping we all meet again!
