Duddingston Kirk is such a beautiful Church and will be celebrating 900years in 2024. The grounds are so beautiful and tranquil and they have a very quaint Garden Room for refreshments and snacks including wonderful cakes and scones, beverages of all kinds and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Visiting the Kirk and surrounding area is certainly a must, loved my visit.

Called in at the church on a cycle through to town. Stopped to look at the gravestones and were then drawn in to the lovely tearoom - had a drink and scone whilst sitting out in their peaceful, sheltered garden. Also explored Dr Neil’s garden and the areas split into allotments for various groups. A lovely visit.

Beautiful and peaceful place in the heart of a busy city. Set in wonderful gardens where you will always find hard working friendly people contributing to the beauty. Visit the garden room and fine an array of delicious cakes, not forgetting the scones 🍰 as well as a warm welcome from the lovely volunteers who always serve with a smile.

This 12th century church is not normally open to visitors (except during certain days in August, according to their website), but when I visited, a kind person in the garden invited me to come in and see this beautiful church and graveyard. It was serene and historic, peaceful and thought provoking - all at the same time.

I passed by the church on a rainy day and decided to stop and find a shelter. I’m so glad that I did that.
The tea room serves tea and coffee and delicious home made cakes. The price is very reasonably, ladies working there are very friendly.
There’s also a beautiful garden at the back. It’s absolutely a jewel, very well looked after and has peaceful atmosphere facing the Duddingston lake.
If you’re near Holyrood Park, it’s worth going a bit further to pay a visit to the church and the team and the garden.
Please the tea room don’t open Mon, Tue. On Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday opens 1-4pm, Thursday-Friday opens 10am-4pm

This is a beautiful and historic church - open when the nearby café is open - set in an old and interesting kirkyard with a watchtower built to deter body snatchers. Dr Neil's and Jock Taimson's Gardens are nearby. It’s a lovely place to visit and you can end things off in the delightful on-site café staffed by friendly, welcoming volunteers. Delicious cakes and scones!

Snobby little tearoom and not the cheapest but nothing else in the area for miles. Shame the church is mainly closed all the time but it's worth a look around the graveyard.

This 12th century Church was not open when we were there but we could walk around in the graveyard. It's a Commonwealth War Graveyard. The location of this church is outside the centre of Edinburg at the Duddingston village, on the corner of a small very busy road. No parking area. The parking place is about 100m from the church

We will be walking to Holyrood Palace and would like to visit Duddingston Kirk . Did you take a bus to reach the church....if so which one. Many thanks.

Hi, hope this isn’t too late. I actually took the local ferry for part of the journey! A real experience with some breathtaking views of gods city below. If you Really want to take a bus (I mean if you must) then my recommendation would be the 21 bus which will not only take you to the attraction but also offers a scenic route through some of the more traditional areas of Edinburgh (namely: pilton, drylaw and muirhouse).
