Neighbourhood: New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We found this place by accident which is quite embarrassing considering we're in the area most weekends having drinks!

Absolutely loved it, it's cosy with really friendly bar staff and friendly punters, in fact because it's small you just end up talking to everyone and anyone - my kind of place! We've been a few times now and it still remains the same as my first impressions. Also I asked the barman what kind of candles they were burning on tables cos they smelled lush & he went away and found out for me - how lovely!

Small but the atmosphere is champion and the beer is cheap! Cocktails are worth a go too and the music is a bit different to your general run of the mill rubbish you hear everywhere else in Edinburgh.

I visited here in June and loved it. It was a Wednesday which we thought would be rather quiet, however there were a few other people there. The music that was on was our kind of music and was a cosy place to sit for a few drinks. I will be visiting again.

Recently visited Scotland with a friend of mine who was on business, and I was on holiday. We ended up at the International Vodka and Beer
Bar ,by chance. We were doing a personal pub crawl, trying to hit as many local watering holes as possible when down a back dark alleyway we saw a sign for cheap Jager! I was instantly drawn in. The Jager bombs were for 4 for 10 pounds! The establishment was about the size of my living room back home!A small ,quaint, cozy and inviting space with wonderful electronic music in the background, and a attractive smiling face on the other side of the bar. We visited every day thereafter that we were in Edinburgh and the International Beer and Vodka Bar became our "home base" in Scotland!

We stumbled upon this small but lovely bar during a wander around the Edinburgh festival. Although it is on the small side it had a great atmosphere, which was complimented by the engaging staff. Aswell as having a large range of flavoured and speciality vodkas (including an amazing red velvet cake flavoured one) they also had some lovely cocktails on offer. All in all a great wee find, with chatty attentive staff, nice atmosphere and marvellous drinks at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend a visit!
