Great day out with the children

The combination of Callendar House with the surrounding woods, pond and playground make a great day out for a family with young children.

It was a beautiful day so we took some Italian tourists to visit Callendar House in Falkirk. It is widely advertised in the area, including a tea room. However we were all very disappointed when we got there, the place was closed up and and a small notice said we are open every day, except Tuesdays. Why? We were not... More

This was a quick stop on a tour of the Falkirk area. House is very interesting and staff are helpful and informative. Go see the old style freezer (Ice box).

What a great place. A beautiful house with some good interactive stuff for kids. A visit to the kitchen is essential. Also got a nice wee gift shop.

We visited Callender House on a rainy afternoon, so didn’t get to see the park and grounds – which looked beautiful. However, the house is well worth a visit and provides a great history of Falkirk dating back over the centres. There was a great Science exhibition on when we went. Has a lovely tea room, serving really nice food... More

Have been a couple of times before but hadn't seen everything so it was good to see parts I'd previously missed and particularly enjoyed the Women's exhibition. Also got to sample the tea room even though they were near to closing at the time so we only had drinks and cakes, which were nice.

Not too far from Falkirk station but not many sighs to direct us if you are on foot. Best take a taxi from the station. This grand mansion has lot to see. You go... More

Have stayed all my life in Falkirk district and visit here was super. Lot of interesting things i never knew about the area that were fascinating. One slight downside was the cafeteria which was wildly expensive but still great afternoon spent.

To get to the house you go through an area with tower blocks, the park surrounding the house is well kept with lots of walks and good play ground for kids, there is a pitch and putt and loch also. The House is worth going to see it has a small shop at the entrance and has an exhibition about... More
