The famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course at the Home of Golf. The bridge was originally built over 700 years ago so shepherds could move their flock across the Swilcan Burn which meanders through what is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Today the Swilcan Bridge, with the 'Auld Grey Toun' providing the most beautiful of backdrops, is one of the most iconic settings in golf. So much more than a little stone crossing, the Swilcan Bridge is the history of the game, it's the magic moments, it's felt the footsteps of the true greats.

I am no golfer, in fact I have never played a round of golf in my life, but I just had to do this! I managed to walk over the Swilken Bridge twice - over and back! The Swilken Burn runs under the Swilken Bridge, and the bridge can be found between the first and eighteenth fairways of the Old... More

I went with the intention of spending the day walking the course and it turned out to be so much more. The weather was perfect and since it was a Sunday, the Old Course was open to the public to walk around and take in the sights. This is the best day to go since you won't have to worry... More

It is just a small bridge but it means so much to so many people worldwide. For golfers and non-golfers alike there is an allure with this iconic structure. Framed in countless photographs and images with the R&A Clubhouse and 18th green in the background, it is truly inspiring. Golfers are very understanding and do not seem to mind visitors... More

If you know anything at all about golf, you will definitely be thrilled to stand on this little bridge and drink in the surrounding fairways and buildings. It's better than on TV!

Worth a visit if you are in the area as it gives good views of the Old Course, be careful when taking pictures as the course can get busy.

This is not about a tiny bridge . It's about the history the bridge represents.. Many a great golfer stood on this bridge and waved goodbye to the crowds for the last time.. I could feel their excitement and Sadness as I stood on the bridge.. my partner looked at me as if I had 4 heads not 2 as... More

What an awesome feeling to be able to see for oneself the famous bridge that so many golf legends have crossed. I think whether you're a duffer like myself or shoot below par this place is a must see if you are ever in Scotland.

A bridge from Roman times on the iconic Old Course? What's not to love?! You may have to wait to have your picture taken, but everyone is good about taking turns.
