Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Together with the twin statue of Lord Clyde (with whom Moore shared the famous retreat to A Coruña) it stands in the center of the southern side of George Square. The bronze statue is placed on a cylindrical gray granite pedestal bearing the inscription with the dedication to this brave British Army general, a native of Glasgow, who distinguished himself particularly in the Spanish campaign against Napoleon's French troops and where he met his death. Portrait in military dress is missing sword in left hand, disappeared in 1980. The statue, by John Flaxman, was the first to be built (1819) among all those in the square, but it is certainly not among the most fascinating. As a curiosity, the bronze for the statue comes from the cannons captured from the French. This monument is also soiled by birds like everyone else in the square.

This statue stands in tribute to Sir John Moore, a Glasgow born British soldier and politician best known for his role in the Peninsular War, part of the wider Napoleonic wars. He died at the Battle of Corunna, having lead the British army in Spain on their long retreat and the evacuation at Corunna. Mortally wounded during the defence, but lived long enough to learn that his men had successfully repelled the French attacks.
This statue depicts Sir John Moore in portrait pose standing upright and dressed as a gentleman of the 18th century. He also wearing a long clock which he holds in place with his right hand. Not a must-see, but take a look if in Georges Square.

Hidden behind the bins at the Christmas market,my pilgrimage to see another Sir John Moore statue was a rather damp cold scruffy occasion

It's worth having a look at the many fine statues that decorate George Square. Sir John Moore statue is a good example.
