- Julie CMPerth, United Kingdom22 contributionsOverall an enjoyable couple of hoursPositives - Tour guide (Alex) was friendly and knowledgeable. Got to see all the areas detailed and unlimited time in the museum afterwards. Good photo opp with Scottish cup replica and scoring a goal in the warm up area. Improvements for me- Tour was pacy in places and only 6 ppl in our group. We were booked for 11am tour and email said to be there 15 minutes early, so we were but security guard said the email “told lies” and went back to eating his family sized bag of crisps and watching TV, while we waited outside a locked cafe door to be collected. A full section in the museum of the radio clips via old phones is not working, no out of order sign and response was yeah we know it’s not working when I asked, why watch us try several phones if you know they don’t work? Overall we did enjoy it and would recommend the Hampden tour & museum, especially if you’re a football fan.Hi Julie, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. While I am pleased that you enjoyed your tour overall, I am disappointed that you were not completely satisfied with your visit. I will have a word with our reception staff regarding this, and will also look to try and improve certain aspects of the museum as we look into modernising and repairing certain exhibits. I do hope that we will see you again in the near future.Written 27 October 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 October 2023
- Pete FGlasgow, United Kingdom33 contributionsTired looking interior but its what happens on the pitch that counts.A nice tour but the stadium itself is clearly quite dated. The changing rooms and general decor look very early 1990s but I guess that doesn’t matter if you are playing on the pitch (which looked immaculate). The museum has many interesting artefacts and was well presented. The guide was very knowledgable and gave lots of interesting stories of the teams and performers who have been at Hampden. For some reason there is no souvenir shop which is a missed opportunity and would have been nice to see.Hi Pete, thanks for taking the time to leave us a review! I am pleased that you enjoyed your visit, and please rest assured that we are currently liaising with our colleagues in the stadium to set up an alternative to our old shop. - LAURA F1 contributionHighly recomend for your child's partyThis was my sons 10th birthday party and will definitely be 1 to remember. Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Our host Frank was brilliant si engaging and interactive with the kids they loved him. The price was u believable for what you get in the national stadium considering it was only 30 quid more than some other places that kids can have football parties at . All the kids were impressed and had loads of fun at each activity.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review - I am very pleased that you enjoyed your party! I'll be sure to let Frankie know that you had a great time, and I hope that we will see you again soon for a regular stadium tour.Written 12 February 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 February 2024
- mexicotraveller198150 contributionsBirthday party success! We attended hampden for my son’s 11th birthday party. They all had an absolute (excuse the pun!) ball. Andy and Emily were terrific hosts, so helpful, knowledgeable and polite and had just the correct tone with the kids. I have never seen ten boys so enthralled or desperate to answer questions. They especially loved having the speed of their shot recorded and getting to have a kick about. It was a day we will never forget and such a special experience for a birthday party. I would highly, highly recommend.Thank you for booking one of our parties - it was a pleasure to take you around, and I'll be sure to let Emily know you all had a great time too! - Andy W1 contributionExcellent value for moneyWe booked the stadium tour and museum late notice on a typically wet Glasgow day. Arriving at the stadium we were directed to the cafe to meet our guide, George. There were only approx 20 people in the tour group so there was plenty of room available to see the dressing rooms, warm up areas, tunnel and inside of the stadium. The group bring small also allowed plenty of scope to ask our knowledgable guide plenty of questions as we went round. When the tour finished there was time to look around the museum which was much larger than I had expected. There are displays dating back from the late 19th century to modern day times, highlight for me was the Aberdeen ECWC jersey from the final vs Real Madrid. When finished in the museum we had a snack in the museum cafe. The stadium does look a bit dated internally and there was the added disappointment of there being Rangers livery around the dressing rooms and tunnel due to their temporary relocation to the national stadium. Overall, however, this is fantastic value at £16 for adults and £9 for children/concessions.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am very pleased that you enjoyed George's tour, and I'll be sure to pass this on to him! I hope that we will see you again in the future.Written 2 September 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 August 2024

We visited on 16th August around 1030 and the museum was closed due to refurbishment. Niel from the museum very kindly opened it up just for us to have a look around in our own time. We have 3 children who were made up with the whole experience. The museum is great, its clean, well laid out and very informative. They have alot of interative things to do for children of all ages.
We also got to have a look at the pitch by another member of the team.
Thank you so much for the amazing experience and memories to last our family a life time. A special thank you to the 2 members of the team who made our day so special.

My 8 year old grandson from Perth, Scotland was looking forward to this trip so much. But is was unfortunately a poor experience.
He was unable to understand a single word the tour guide said and missed all the information of where we were and the stories which I am sure were fascinating. I and many others on our tour were experiencing similar problems.
It was also not helped by Rangers logo being just about everywhere as they are temporarily using to stadium. It took away from the "National" stadium effect/impact.
Additionally I could not understand why there was so much about the old firm in the museum. It is a national stadium for the national team - if you must/want to cover Scottish teams - cover them all equally. Hamilton Accies seemed to be treated like most "small" teams - missing!
It should have been soooo much better.

We had a booked birthday party for our 9 years old daughter in there last week. The customer care was absolutely outstanding from the beginning to the end. Andy was very helpful with all the information via emails and our birthday host Tom was amazing with his knowledge, passion and lovely attitude. The kids got a wee tour around the stadium and plenty interesting stories have been told. They even got to play 5s aside on the indoor pitch.
All the children absolutely loved it!
I would totally recommend it to everyone, football fans and not a football fans. Everyone will find something interesting during the tour.
Thanks again Hampden team.

The museum is very good and covers the development of Scottish football, from the invention of the passing game to the present day. It was just my wife and myself and we were treated to a tour by excellent guide George who explained the history of the stadium.

I have to start off by admitting I am not a football fan at all, I have no interest in it whatsoever. However my son is on a mission to visit every museum in Glasgow and as my husband is a huge football fan we thought it would be worth a visit. I was expecting to be pretty bored but surprisingly I wasn't.
The museum focuses on the history of Scottish football and there is a lot of memorabilia to see. I did learn stuff about football I never knew. There are a lot of things to take photos with too, I particularly liked the giant table footballers and the peeping Toms looking through the fence of the first international match. The tour of Hampden Park was about an hour long and very interesting. Our guide was very enthusiastic and definitely knew what he was talking about. It was a very interesting insight into the stadium and the history of it. We even got to score a goal at Hampden which I'm told is quite a feat.
Any football fan would definitely enjoy visiting and would certainly find it interesting. I would definitely recommend it.

We visited the Scottish Football Museum yesterday and loved it! There were 2 adults and a nine year old in the party and we paid £17. This was a family ticket which covers 2 adults and 2 kids. Although the very nice woman on reception explained that there are often tokens and vouchers available for cheaper entry. She gave all all the info we needed to know and also our audio devices.
The museum itself is much bigger than we had thought with lots of interactive exhibits. The audio descriptions are interesting and the audio devices worked perfectly (unlike in many museums). There are artefacts, videos, photos, a research section and interactive games, including a table football game (sometimes the simple things in life are fun!)
Unfortunately there are no stadium tours possible at the minute because of the work being done for the Commonwealth Games. However the staff are approachable, happy to chat and are very informative. We even discovered that the first Scotland Womens International against England was held in our home town of Greenock.
There is a good cafe where we had nice coffee and a light lunch. To be honest we would have stayed longer if we'd had the time - there was much more to it than we'd thought.
The downside at the minute is all the building work going on around and inside Hampden. There is no car parking and it's a fair old walk to get into the stadium given all the safety barriers. But even with this I'd still recommend the museum.
We all enjoyed our visit and will return for another visit to include the tour.

Hi
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review.
We are delighted you and your family enjoyed your visit with us and we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by the Stadium Tours not being available due to works for the Commonwealth Games. The works carried out at that time could not be helped and we hope it didn't affect your visit with us.
One of my favourites is the table football as well! :-)
I will be sure to pass on your comments to the staff and we hope to welcome you back to the Stadium for a Tour some day soon.
Many thanks

Being in Glasgow with a football mad 8 year old we thought we would take the Hampden Tour, what we hadn't realised was how good the Football museum would be - was excellently laid out, informative, fun and full of lots of memorabilia and memories ( even as an Englishman) the Archie Gemmil goal re-enactment took me back to being 8 years old again and that wonderful goal against the Dutch - the stadium tour is great fun, the tour guide was just the right mix of information and jokes - mostly it seemed at Hib's lack of cup success- would recommend to any football fan from any country - great stadium, museum and tour.

Can you view the pitch with just a museum ticket? Obviously you need the stadium tour to go onto it but can you see out of a window or anything without doing the tour?

I don’t think so. The museum is enclosed, with no windows, as far as I can remember.

Hi
The Tour takes approximately 1 hour and you can spend as much time in the Museum as you wish. Most visitors are here for approx 2 hours for the full Hampden Experience (The Stadium tour, Hampden Hotshots, Hall of Fame and Museum)
Hope this helps.
Thanks
