The Lighthouse (Scotland's Centre for Architecture and Design) is a fusion of the 'A' Listed Herald Building (first public building Mackintosh was involved with)and the swish 'battery pack' extension Page/Parker architects creatively clipped onto the original structure in 1999. The tour on Saturdays at 1pm...More

A wonderful museum with various interesting exhibits featuring Mackintosh and Glasgow style and design. The climb through the tower is amazing as is the view from the glass room.

The display of Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired hats made me 'smile out loud'. It was worth the visit just for that. I loved the exhibition spaces and the drawings/plans and even the circular staircase (once I'd recovered from the climb). Lots of places to sit...More

Located down a wee lane at the foot of Bucanan Street. Visiting here is worth it for the views inside of the old Glasgow Herald building, and from the viewing windows at the top of Glasgow rooftops.

I'm not an arts person, and this place is dedicated to art. BUt I love visiting new places and cities, so I went to the Lighthouse to get to the top (I believe is the 5th floor) and take pictures of the city! :) The...More

Interesting gallery / museum, tucked away behind Buchanan Street. We saw the Mackintosh Hill House bedroom exhibition, which was excellent, student architectural awards and a fascinating hat exhibition. Great view from the top, if you can manage the climb and have a head for heights,...More

Cool lighthouse in the middle of the city. It houses and art museum, but you can walk to the top of the light house. Free, but has a donation box at the door. Lovely gift shop.

Made a long overdue visit to The Lighthouse and was not disappointed. As a fan of Rennie Macintosh and his wife Margaret Macdonald the exhibition of their work was well worth the visit as was the exhibition of Macintosh's furniture on the second floor. The...More

The Lighthouse currently includes not just an interpretative exhibition introducing Mackintosh’s work (on 3rd floor), but also many of his furnishings from Hill House Helensburgh (on 1st floor) while that building is being renovated.

This year celebrates Mackintosh's 150th anniversary and as such we have an exciting program of exhibitions based on his life and work. The Hill House exhibition has been extremely popular. We hope you will visit again to see future exhibitions.
