    House for an Excellent Wedding
We recently got married at House for an Art Lover and the experience overall was excellent. There were very minor communication issues at some points throughout as we booked so far in advance that certain members of staff we initially liaised with were no longer employed there. The rest of the experience was fantastic. The costs involved were very reasonable considering what you get: a very generous drinks package, excellent food and an absolutely beautifully decorated venue. At first we were a bit iffy about the dancefloor but it was suprisingly charming on the day. We had a slight disaster with the kilt hires and Amber was eager to help out by loaning us some of the purple staff ties to use for the ushers in lieu of the missing green tie from our hire as they fit in with the colour scheme. The bride didn't even notice! Bridget and Farooq were excellent also, and were more than happy to make various accomodations for guests that we feel were above and beyond what was required. We had a few fussy eaters who weren't keen on the starter and they were more than happy to let them pick and choose between the regular and vegetarian menus. They also bought in non-alcoholic Prosecco for our pregnant guests (including the Bride)! Bridget was also absolutely fine with some last minute changes and assured us that we weren't being unreasonable - she was very friendly throughout. Farooq and Amber also gave us a hand with moving the flowers into the venue as the Bride arranged the flowers herself. Farooq also, for ease, stored these until the next day for us to pick up and even gave us a hand with them back to our car. With regards to liaising with the various vendors and suppliers, this was all done behind the scenes with minimal input from us which was really nice as everything was done for us so we could focus on enjoying the day, rather than stressing about timings etc. We were also reasonably difficult with our favours as some guests got different things - these were all laid out perfectly and in the correct places. Additional stationery was printed on request with no issues whatsoever. They even assembled our jigsaw guestbook and displayed it for the evening guests arrival which was a really nice touch. There are probably other times that we've forgot to mention where the staff went above and beyond what would reasonably be expected and for that we will be forever grateful. The day was a resounding success and it's a day we'll never forget.

    Wedding 2023
We held our wedding reception in May 2023, and all I can say is WOW! We had a fantastic day from start to finish. The team, food, and venue were excellent, and due to the nature of our guests, a lot were travelling from London and abroad. They were blown away by such a unique venue and great location. Our photos and video look excellent. We were slightly concerned about the fact they don’t have rooms, but there was no need to worry as we got ready in a lounge upstairs (again, very well done with mirrors, good lighting and comfortable seating); we had bacon rolls and pastries etc and were very well looked after by Fiona. Our guests booked local and West End accommodations and some used taxis and cars, which worked well. Downstairs works well and gives everyone a completely different experience! The day was fantastic, and all my family and friends loved it – I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend five stars!

    Room with a View
This is the fifth time I have had the pleasure of hosting a private event at the House for an Art Lover. This venue for us, is without a doubt, ideal. "The View" room is our go-to and never fails to impress. True to its name, with a beautiful outlook, complemented by the cozy couches and a spacious oval table, comfortably accommodates 20 guests. A very relaxed atmosphere, our guests never felt rushed. The staff (including Gillian, Melissa and Rowan) were lovely - friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and having pre-ordered our menu selection and arranged a table plan, every guest received their desired meal promptly and accurately. I dealt with Kate in the Events team prior to our visit, she made life so much easier, nothing was too much trouble and the whole process was seamless and personal. I would highly recommend this venue for business or a private celebration.

    A fitting end
I had the unfortunate experience of attending the funeral of a friend at the House. It was handled superbly – lovely space (View) with very attentive staff and excellent food.   I generally use it to take my mum out for lunch and always enjoy it, but this was a different experience – plus plenty of car parking spaces.

    Lovely
We went to the House for an Art Lover in Glasgow with my family. It's a testament to architectural beauty and artistic inspiration. This building seamlessly combines art, design, and craftsmanship. Surrounded by lush gardens, the house offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Inside there it's looks soo nice the style is Mackintosh's iconic. From the elegant interiors to the thoughtfully curated exhibitions, the House for an Art Lovers, and people who like see new places . I really like it , looks soo amazing, I recommend it 100%

I went for an afternoon tea here with my Family for my mums birthday. The staff were so attentive, especially Farooq made it extra special by organising a birthday cake. I would definitely recommend booking here and will be returning in the future to try their evening menu.

We love it so much we had our wedding here!
We had our wedding at House for an Art Lover in May 2024. After visiting several venues in Glasgow we knew immediately that we wanted to have our wedding here. The venue is so beautiful and unique. The fact that they had ready made packages meant much less organisational hassle and we could look forward the to day. The food was great too. Additionally, the setting and background is so stunning there's no need for any further decorations or flourishes for the big day (translation - less money). The ground floor for the evening is excellent - they have brilliant size dance floor and if you get a sunny day (like we did) your guests can sit outside. Finally the staff are brilliant - they answered any queries really quickly and we had a few meetings, including just before the wedding, to make sure we were completely happy with everything. 100% recommend.

Excellent choice for a dinner for 64.
Excellent retirement party for 64. Efficient organisation and great food. Good wine choices with a lovely venue. I chose this since I had always had good service everytime I arranged a meeting or dinner there. They did not disappoint.

    Afternoon tea
We had 50+ family and friends here for an afternoon tea today. Nice rooms on the top floor, good food (and even boxes given out at the end to take away what was left), good service, and all well planned and run. Good job, people!

    A Perfect Wedfing
We were so grateful to have chosen House for an Art Lover for our daughter’s wedding in July 2024 . I never really believed that a wedding could be perfect but my daughter’s really was , thanks to the beautiful venue and the wonderful staff . Every single person , without exception , was friendly , helpful and utterly professional . Nothing was too much trouble and the staff went out of their way to ensure that the wedding day was exactly as we had planned it . Everything went so smoothly thanks to the lovely team who worked together so well , always with a smile on their face . We chose House for an Art Lover , not just for the beautiful interior and surroundings , but for the different spaces the guests could use throughout the day . A special thanks to Bridget , Farooq and Amber who were just lovely .

From start to finish, the team at HFAL went above and beyond to make the day as personal and as special as it should be. Our day started to run over timewise; as they are a specialist wedding venue, which comes with a dedicated wedding coordinator, their experience shone through, got the day back on track, and not one person realised, Absolute Professionals.

The food is phenomenal 🤤. You expect when cooking at such a large scale they won't be able to reproduce such high quality as they did at the tasting, but it was even better ❤️

The team were more than happy to accommodate any requests when we were planning our big day, including upgrading our drinks packages, which paired perfectly with our meal. It's a little added extra cost, but as we and some of our guests are a bit of a fussy bunch (background in hospitality, so love a good wine),upgrading the drinks package kept everyone very happy and was well worth it.

Thanks again, especially to Head Chef Stuart, Bridget and Farooq

My wife and I got married at this venue on the 14th of September 2023. I can't say enough how amazing the day was, not a single thing went wrong and the staff were so happy and helpful.

The whole way through the planning process from the start of 2022, Emily and then Bridget have been on hand to guide us through the process. They have been so quick at responding to any questions we had and they really made us feel at ease every step of the way. They set out a timeline so you know what will happen and when it will happen and we felt assured the entire time.

On the day itself the entire staff team were incredible. Small touches such as a free drink for myself and the grooms party was a lovely touch, Amanda the MC was so helpful and helped me feel at ease both on the day and when we met her a few days before. Amanda, and then later he colleague Farooq, helped the day run smoothly and kept things going and did their jobs so professionally. It was really nice that after the ceremony my wife and I got five minutes to have a drink and a canape before the photos as by the time we came back they were all gone.

The food was delicious and went down well with the majority of people. It was a fully vegan wedding and the chef was happy to take on some of our suggestions in the build up to the day.

Again the Mc's did an amazing job at night and out evening guests felt welcome to the wedding. Farooq was with us until the very end and was really patient when we were still running about trying to get stuff after 1 AM and our taxi was waiting, he also helped us out to the car.

All of our external supplies were amazing too. Caroline Lambie the humanist, Emma Donaldson Photographer, Chris Connelly the Pianist, Christopher Kelly the videographer, Joe and Steph from Bygone photo booth, Mamas Wee Bakery for the cake, The Jiggers who were out Ceilidh band, our florist 'Flowers by Lilly' and Go2eventhire for the games setup.

We had the most amazing day and would definitely recommend thie house to other couples looking for a wedding venue.

Worth the short trip outside of the city centre; the easiest way to reach is by bus. It built in a park after design sketches made by Mackintosh and his wife for an international competition in 1902; the remarkable story of how these sketches were turned into a building is well explained in the audiotour included in the entrance price. The interior celebrates the love of the newly weds (it is still used for weddings, so closed sometimes, check the website). There is a wonderful contrast between the dark entrance hall and dinner room and the light music room, with the unique style of the Mackintoshes: a wall onto a terrace dissolving in light by the many windows, the sweeping vertical lines, and also the stained glass and gesso panels, beautifully reconstructed (no originals).Surrounded by a small park, with a walled garden and art centre with exhibition space. It has a café and small shop.

My husband and I got married at the House For An Art Lover in December 2022 and what a magical day we had. The venue is utterly stunning at all times of the year, beautiful in daylight and so cosy at night. There were loads of menu options and the food served was utterly delicious. Throughout the whole wedding day and planning process, the staff were always incredibly friendly and highly organised. The House for An Art Lover definitely offers some of the most competitively priced wedding packages in Glasgow and central Scotland, so I would 100 percent recommend!

Thank you so much to the team!

The "Haus for an Art Lover" is located very close to the football stadium. The museum is located in a park and can be reached on foot from the football stadium. There are several rooms in the museum, such as the dining room, music, rooms and the "Main Hall" with special furnishings. Noble and very fine (even type) furnished. There is also an entrance fee. On presentation of my severely disabled ID card, admission to this museum was free. Credit card payment is also possible! The Art Cafe on the ground floor is concerned about the physical well-being. Very worth seeing! A visit is definitely worthwhile. Parking is also available in front of the house.

I’ve been here many times for different occasions and social events. It amazes me that every time I’m in the café/restaurant the service gets worse and worse. Rude, slow and clearly badly managed as not one member of staff seems to be doing their job properly. It lets the whole establishment down and in this day and age shocking service just isn’t acceptable. My friend who hasn’t been there before called it a very strange place and it’s safe to say we will not be returning to the café again. It’s also too expensive for what your get, there should be a serious look into changing this section of the house for the better.

Dear Elisa, Many thanks for your review highlighting the disappointing experience in the Art Lovers Café. We admit that sometimes we don’t always get it right, and this seems to be one of those occasions; however, to describe the service as ‘shocking’ seems a little over the top – maybe disappointing or lacking would have been a better description. I am sure you will be following the news highlighting the pressures that businesses are under with costs increasing at a rate we have never experienced. We are trying hard not to pass them on fully – however, to describe us as expensive is so far off the mark – our average spend is comparable to well-known high street coffee chains where you queue for food, find your seat and clear your table - we on the other hand offer full table service. Finally, I’m not too sure what your friend means by ‘strange’ - again, another confusing adjective, but we will endeavor to keep going because there are some people who think we do it well.

My partner Maddie and I were married here in Feb '23. We had looked at several venues but went with House for an Art Lover for a variety of reasons but mainly how beautiful the venue was and great value.

Emily was so helpful in the planning stages and had answers to everything we asked. The whole process was very professional and efficient.

On the day the staff were absolutely amazing from start to finish - our master of ceremonies Sarah was great. Everything seemed to happen so efficiently and without any fuss, it was all so smooth.

Our guests all commented on how beautiful the venue was and how good the food was. Lots of compliments on the canapes!

Thanks again

We cannot thank the whole team at House for an Art Lover enough for making our wedding day so special! From the initial show around, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. Centrally located with ample parking, beautiful gardens for photos, iconic Glasgow attraction for out of town guests and of course, an experienced team you can trust. Emily was so helpful during the whole planning process, always on the other end of an email to answer all our questions. On the day, Amy and Amanda made us feel so calm and reassured. If any problems had occurred, our guests and ourselves had no clue as it was handled discreetly. The venue flowed perfectly from ceremony and dinner into the cafe below for party time. The Rennie Mackintosh design throughout the music and dining room speaks for itself, we didn't feel the need to spend a ton on decor. The food was exquisite! We got a ton of compliments from our guests about how good the meal was. From start to finish, the day was perfect! So many of our friends and family said it was the best wedding they've been to and I believe that has a lot to do with the stunning venue and amazing team at House for an Art Lover!

My partner and I got married here in March 2023, and I can't honestly describe just how perfect everything was. From the first visit and subsequent booking in July 2021, throughout the planning process with Emily (which was seamless at every turn) right up to the day itself, we are so delighted we chose HAL as our venue and wouldn't have changed anything looking back.

Our guests were so complimentary on the gorgeous venue and had nothing but praise. The decor is beautiful and unique whilst being quintessentially Glasgwegian and easily accessible from the city centre. The food was exceptional both at the canapés and during the evening meal, and the drinks flowed all night. The staff during the wedding day are superb, always at hand and keeping everything running but never imposing. Cristos was amazing as our Master of Ceremonies, as we had a few particular requests and ideas that he just took under his wing to ensure they happened.

We are so delighted to have our beautiful wedding venue just a short drive away in our home city. We will be back for lunches and visits on a regular basis, as the venue and the fabulous staff really just helped make the day so special. If you are thinking of eating there, you'll be delighted. If you are thinking of having your wedding there, we can't recommend them enough. Thank you so much, HAL!

Booked a room for my wife's 80th birthday party. The preparation and attention to detail beforehand by the events team were second to none. The food was absolutely wonderful, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were both discrete and attentive. The room had been laid out beautifully, and everyone in our party of 20 was very complimentary on every aspect of their experience. We have the most lovely memories of our day. A very sincere thank you to all staff involved. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue.
