Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Get ready to see the world through masks and puppets. Another reviewer used the term enchanted, I agree. Enchanting is the best way to describe the experience. We got to hear stories from Malcolm and Sarah about the puppets and masks on display and the art of puppetry. Wonderful. We left feeling like we took a trip through time and space.

What a sweet day out. We loved the Snow Child and have since been helped immensely booking our daughter's birthday party. Flexible, friendly and helpful venue.

Visited here today as sick of the usual shopping centres, soft play and parks that we fill our weekend time with out 4 year old. I was sceptical before but so glad we went. Great performance and pretty cheap too. I would recommend to anyone with young ones as decent little cafe along with some arts and crafts for the kids to do. We will be back soon!

My son went with his playgroup on their summer trip. He still talks about it. They all had a fantastic time and we will definitely be back!

Another wonderful afternoon of fun and entertainment at the SMPC. We have been visiting this fantastic centre since our eldest son was 18 months but yesterday was the first time we have been to one of the Magipup events (October week holidays full of magic and puppets). The magic show was brilliant and enjoyed by the whole family but particularly our 2 and 6 year olds. After the show we were able to sit down in the café with a cuppa while the kids coloured in the puppets and masks we had bought for them from the café (£1.50 each).
The SMPC puts on a fabulous variety of puppet shows and workshops throughout the year (details of times and prices on the website). There are also displays of masks and puppets around the centre that you can look at free of charge.
The puppet shows tend to be between 45 minutes and a hour (worth noting that the theatre can get fairly warm when full so don't over dress). The workshops tend to be a couple of hours. For his 5th birthday our son had a puppet making workshop party at the SMPC which was a huge success. The children were captivated for an hour and a half using their imaginations to create a wonderful array for puppets which they were able to take home.
Malcolm and Sarah who run the SMPC have created a wonderfully friendly atmosphere in which to spend a morning or an afternoon and in our experience the performers are equally friendly and generous with their time. The SMPC is a true find and great for firing children's (and adults) imaginations and creativity.

Booked in with the kids last weekend for a wee treat but what a wonderful place we stumbled upon.
The puppet show was exquisite, kids were engrossed from start to finish, crafts available to entertain the little ones before and after puppet show. Very much looking forward to our return visit.

Awesome... an amazingly staffed and interesting place. Wonderful time had by all. Very personal and informative and the owner was a great unexpercted host. Well worth a visit. Great for children and adults alike!

Consider this as a must do when visiting the wonderful West End. A fabulously entertaining time can be had for all the family. Malcolm and Sarah are fantastic hosts and it is evident they love what they do. Enjoy one of their shows which are ideal for a family on a budget or even book a birthday party. Workshops are available and puppet displays ancient and modern surround the cafe area. Don't miss this little gem.
