Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This architectural marvel is one of Glasgow's finest buildings. The facade of polychromic bricks is it's most eye catching feature and the towers on the corners of the western facade gives the building a fairy tale look.

A quite astonishing Victorian factory building which was modelled on the Doge's Palace in Venice to ensure a successful passage through it's planning approval process. However carpets have not been made here for decades and it correctly known now as the Templeton Business Centre. After this 1980s conversion a less interesting 20th Century extension was demolished to make way for residential accommodation which almost blends in - see my pictures. One highlight is that it is now home to the West Brewery Bar and Restaurant which I have yet to visit. I have added the website for this to my review as it has a few pictures of the building not taken on a cloudy day like my two. Next time a drink I think...

This is well worth seeing - the Italian design is wonderful and this is easily seen from the People's Palace - so is not really a destination in its own right - like the wonderful fountain outside of the People's Palace - a must see. It eas a carpet factory but is now divided into private flats so cannot be entered.

At the height of summer this part of Glasgow can be busy so imagine what the restaurant is like, it can be busy but the staff are friendly and patient

Well, not exactly the most beautiful attraction in Glasgow but I have to admit that from the outside is a beautiful building and frankly its style and its colors make it quite interesting, it is certain that walking through the park is very easy to see it and frankly in front of it you can't refuse to get some pics.

the building has lots of history, it was hard to find any information as we walked round the surrounding area.

I have been in the building when it was Templeton Carpets, then when it changed over to offices. It's the beautiful workmanship on the outside which is amazing. The design was based on the Doge's Palace Venice, and carpets for the Taj Mahal and The Whitehouse were produced here.

When you first view this magnificent building the idea that a functional carpet mill stood behind the spectacular facade seems somehow alien.

James Templeton from Paisley patented a chenille Axminster process by which he could manufacture more densely patterned and richly coloured carpets. He went on to become one of the most successful carpet manufacturers in Britain, producing carpets for state occasions, great houses, luxury liners including the 'Titanic', as well as for domestic use.

The construction of a major extension to the original building was handed to leading Scottish architect, William Leiper (1839-1916) whose design was directly inspired by the late medieval Palazzo Ducale (the Doge's Palace) in Venice, but also incorporated multi-coloured brick, enamel and terracotta tiles to represent the rich Oriental-influenced patterns of the carpets the factory produced.

This wonderful building is considered by many as being one of the finest decorative brick buildings in the world. It is pleasing that it is still in use today and has been converted to a multi-use area containing offices, workshops, creative studios and new and converted flats.

Visited as it is located in Green park east end of Glasgow. Stunning building and beautiful architecture in a Venetian style. Never guess it use to be a carpet factory back in Victorian times. Lovely brewery next door and plenty to see in nearby park.
