One of the most ornate graveyards I've ever visited where all the great and good of Glasgow are buried overlooking the city. There are great views of the city and cathedral from here and lots of ornate graves.

We arrived at Glasgow Cathedral after hours, so we took a walk through the Necropolis. It sits up on a hill overlooking the city. You get a great view of the city from here, and can see a lot of history in the cemetery. Many...More

A Sunday morning hike taking in the gravestones and admiring the views. Well worth the visit and nice to escape the hustle and bustle.

The kids were interested at first but grew weary of all the walking, as small children do! I could have spent hours at the necropolis, it was beautiful, expansive and historic.

What an absolutely brilliant place! so far removed from anywhere else I have ever been with the edifices becoming more grand the higher you climb.

Amazing - great for exercise and panoramic views. A small hill to climb and come muddy parts but definitely worth it.

Beautiful scenery with a lot of character. In the past this place must have been popular as people were dying to get in

It can be as quick as 20 minutes if you like, or easily as long as 1hr if you prefer to meander through the graves and read some of the stones along the way. Either is rewarding!
