I thought this Street was somewhat overrated. Most of the shops are chains you find in other places and are high end, so not great for young/budget travelers. However, it’s central to other places and has good restaurants, so you’ll pass through regardless.

there are some nice places to eat in merchant city too. You can try chaophraya, it's in buchanan street. also in buchanan galleries they have a section for sitting and eating, you can check that out too.
