Loved this part of Glasgow. It is a very different "feel" from the downtown area and Merchant City, where we were staying. After visiting all the museums, hearing about the overcrowding tenements, the history of industry, the west end was a GREAT pick-me-up. Lots of bookshops, cafes, gift stores, restaurants.

Loved the west, went into a beautiful park where you got amazing views of the castle. Cute little bars and restaurants all around, making it a must see!

Loved our time in the West End. The Kelvingrove Museum was a highlight and the Glasgow University building is stunning. Didn't have time for the Hunterian but friends who did go spoke very well of it. Great restaurants and cafes as well as bars and shops, the kind of place that's great for a wander. Really well kept area with... More

BEdgar's sitting on street at key card and store entrances. Grime and dirty everywhere detract from individual and quirky stores. All trying ever so hard to be original. Most of the stores are over priced tat that can be bought anywhere on the High Street. Lovals are just as false.Contrived student look with average age nearer pension than middle age.... More

The West End offers great architecture, walks in the park, great restaurants/cafes/bars and plenty of culture. Easy to get to from the centre of the City via the Subway and a great place to catch your breath with plenty of opens spaces.

The West End is a wonderful area of Glasgow. It has everything, great restaurants, cafes, shops (in particular Byres Rd) transport, pubs, museums and parks. In my opinion, you can't visit Glasgow, without a trip to the West End.
